White Chocolate Toffee
Have you ever made a recipe that gets eaten so quickly you wonder “How did that happen”? Yup, that’s what happened with me and this White Chocolate Toffee. I had no idea it was going to be such a hit! When I first made them I had no idea Matthew and I were going to be fighting each other for the last one – they’re that good!
This easy to make toffee is made with 5 simple ingredients that you most likely already have in your kitchen! The ingredients are pecans, brown sugar, butter, white chocolate chips and sprinkles. I love it because it’s a no bake dessert that also includes rainbow sprinkles – which is my favorite type of treat!
What is Toffee?
Toffee is a type of hard candy, made by boiling sugar and butter together. If often has a nut based bottom and chocolate top. For this recipe, we’re going to use pecans for the base and white chocolate for the top! Lots of people confuse toffee and caramel, but toffee is more crunchy while caramel is more sticky!
BEST Glazed Carrot Cake Donuts recipe! These homemade baked donuts are made with carrots and taste just like carrot cake! This recipe is easy to make and the donuts are moist and full of flavor!
Do you love donuts? Do you love carrot cake? Then I have the perfect recipe for you!
This Winter we got very lucky with our carrots. We didn’t have high hopes for them but upon one Spring cleanup day we were surprised to find pounds of carrots hiding under the soil waiting for us to find them. It was a giant surprise and it created some giant garden smiles
Fresh Carrots Recipe
Aren’t they just beauties? I just can’t get enough of fresh carrots. There’s nothing like the taste of a carrot that was just picked. Sometimes I nibble on one as soon as I pick it, I just can’t help myself. So I took the carrots down to the kitchen and pondered… What to make?
For dinner I made this Roasted Carrot Soup (by the way, it’s delicious!) but then I also wanted carrots for dessert!
I was going to make carrot cake, but I’ve had a real craving for donuts lately so I decided to mix the best of both worlds – cake and donuts!
CARROT CAKE DONUTS
These donuts taste just like carrot cake with a sweet vanilla glaze on top. Think of a bakery glazed donut + a carrot cake…. all as fresh as possible. The freshness of the carrots really make these donuts something special!
Carrot Cake Ingredients
These donuts basically require the same ingredients as carrot cake.
You’ll need egg, orange juice, melted butter, vanilla, brown sugar, flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon and allspice. And then you’ll need shredded carrots!
The vanilla glaze on top is a tried and tested recipe that I use all the time! You make it with milk, vanilla extract and powdered sugar.
These donuts are definitely a keeper in my garden notebook now. I can’t wait for our next carrot harvest to make (and devour!) some more Carrot Cake Donuts!

These chocolate brownies covered in rainbow sprinkles bring back memories! I have fond memories of picking out the weekly grocery store snack when I was a kid, most often reaching for a box of Little Debbie Cosmic Brownies! What wasn’t to love about these brownies? They were chocolate! They were soft! They had rainbow sprinkles! They had “Cosmic” in the title! They were so cool!
Whenever I’m in the grocery store now and I walk by the display of Little Debbie pastries, my eyes always dart to quickly find the Cosmic Brownies. I usually smile quickly and move along. This time though, I decided I was going to make my favorite childhood brownies! Enjoy these Homemade Copycat Little Debbie Cosmic Brownies!
AWARD WINNING Chocolate Peanut Butter Ice Cream recipe! This homemade recipe is made in the ice cream maker and is for chocolate lovers! It’s my family’s favorite Summer ice cream!
We got a Cuisinart ice cream maker a few weeks ago and it’s changed our Summer!
Having a ice cream maker is a great idea. And by great idea I mean a deliciously bad idea. Its like you can make ice cream whenever you want. Which means if you happen to keep all the supplies on hand you can eat ice cream every single day. Delicious, totally. Dangerous, totally.
But I like to live on the wild side… when it comes to ice cream. I live so wild that I checked out 2 ice cream recipe cookbooks from the library and I got a 10 cent fee because one was a day late back. See. I’m a wild child.
VANILLA Brownies with vanilla frosting and sprinkles on top is everyone’s favorite treat! This easy dessert recipe makes fudgy, ooey gooey cake tasting vanilla blondies.
I love vanilla brownies (blondies!). I love frosting. I love sprinkles. These Vanilla Blondies with Vanilla Glaze Frosting are perfect because they check off each of those categories!
I should warn you now, these blondies are dangerously good. I can’t tell you how many blondies I ate because you would have this image of me being a blondie monster in your head and none of you think that. Right? Oh goodness, I’m glad I’m right (thanks for making me feel better).
I love a blondie that is ooey gooey, with some frosting on top. And this frosting is gorgeous. It’s my new go to frosting for… well, everything. It sets perfect and has a shine to it. I’ve always had a problem making a frosting that was thick enough to set without dripping off the sides of brownies, cakes and donuts. But this one is a keeper. Expect to see it often in the next few months in different forms because I have a bunch of donut recipes in my head that need this frosting!
HOMEMADE COOKIES recipe for baby led weaning and soothing a teething baby! These healthy Sweet Potato cookies are made with mashed sweet potato, banana, baby cereal and oatmeal! My favorite part is that these cookies are so delicious we can share them together!
Sweet Potato Cookies
Can you believe Enceladus just turned 8 months? How time flies! With month 7 came her craving for finger food! No Mom, she doesn’t want to be fed with a spoon, she wants to feed herself!
I admit, it does get a little messy when she feeds herself but it’s lots of fun to watch! And honestly, nothing warms my heart more than to know she loves Mama’s cooking (she’s a big fan of my dairy free mashed potatoes too!).
Life has been filled with happy moments of “first foods”. The messy first time she ate watermelon, the slippery first time she ate avocado, the sour face lemon taste, the happy face of tasting jam on toast, etc. Sweet potatoes have been a favorite of hers for a few months, but I had to figure out a way to serve them in a way that she could feed herself since she prefers finger foods over purees nowadays.
Baby Led Weaning Cookies
I felt like her breakfast choices were lacking so I got to thinking in how I could incorporate sweet potatoes in breakfast or a snack. I came up with these soft and yummy Sweet Potato Banana Cookies, perfect for baby led weaning eating adventures!
Chocolate SPINACH BROWNIES with Peanut Butter Frosting recipe. This is a EASY way to get kids or adults to eat their vegetables. You won’t believe how delicious these brownies are! They’re also made with the best peanut butter frosting recipe ever!
The color green. What do you think of?
In many people’s minds, the color green isn’t something you usually think of when you think of sweet desserts. I hear that little kids fear their green vegetables so sneaky parents have to find ways to incorporate it into their meals. Well I don’t have a little kid, but I still like being sneaky, even if it means just being sneaky to myself.
Perfect for CHRISTMAS, GLUTEN FREE Sugar Plum Apple Currant Pie! This easy to make pie recipe shows you how to make a gluten free pie crust using pecans, brown sugar and gluten free flour. The fruit filling is tossed with sugar and spices to make a delicious pie! This is one of the best pies, perfect for Christmas and Thanksgiving! I can promise you that no one will know that it’s GLUTEN FREE!
You guys. This pie is incredible. The pie crust! The sugary fruit filling! Everything tastes so good! I might have eaten half of this pie in a day because I couldn’t stay away from it. It’s that good.
Even though this recipe is “gluten free”, I’m going to be honest and say you won’t be able to tell. I admit that many times you can tell when a recipe is gluten free, but not this one. Because it’s so good, it’s going to satisfy everyone in your family and friends, even if they don’t follow a gluten free diet. (By the way, want another amazing sweet gluten free recipe? Make my Pistachio Cookies!).
CHOCOLATE BANANA CAKE with THE BEST PEANUT BUTTER FROSTING! This homemade from scratch cake is MOIST, easy to make and slides out of the 8×8 pan perfectly! The peanut butter frosting on top is what I consider the best frosting of all time – my family can’t get enough! If you’re looking for a chocolate birthday cake or holiday gift – make this cake!
The season of gift giving is upon us and what’s a better way to say “I think you’re great, Happy Holidays!” than sending someone the gift of Chocolate Banana Cake With Peanut Butter Frosting?
I think sometimes the gift of homemade food is overlooked when it comes to the holidays. Sure, you can brave the holiday lines at the department store to buy your sister those cashmere gloves you saw her eyeing up, but I can almost guarantee you that giving her a homemade cake will make her feel like the best (and loved) sister of all time! A homemade cake is not only a physical gift, but there’s lots of emotional thought that goes into making it too!
Did you know that psychologists have found that baking for loved ones promote a sense of well being not only for the recipient but for the baker as well? Whenever someone gifts me a box filled with homemade cookies I still get weak in the knees and feel like it’s the most special gift ever!
First, let’s talk about this cake before we get to my favorite peanut butter frosting.
This is a Chocolate Banana Cake. I want to tell you up front it is not “too banana-y”. So if you have someone in the family that isn’t a big banana fan don’t be scared of this cake. The cake is made with semi sweet chocolate chips and cocoa powder so it’s very decadent with chocolate.
FLUFFY Rainbow Waffles recipe! This is the perfect birthday breakfast in bed!
Is today your birthday? If so, Happy Birthday!
But chances are it probably isn’t, but that doesn’t mean you don’t deserve party time rainbow breakfast waffles to wake up to in the morning, right? YIPPEE! Let the party begin.
CHOCOLATE CHOW MEIN Noodle COOKIES are my family’s favorite! This easy no bake recipe only requires 4 ingredients! They’re simple to make and you only need chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, chow mein noodles and peanuts! I love adding a dash of salt on top too! They are so much to make with kids! Make them for parties, dessert, bake sales or a alternative to Christmas cookies!
These Chocolate Chow Mein Noodle Cookies are delicious and completely addicting! Even better is that they’re made with only 4 simple ingredients, they don’t require baking and are kid friendly to make! I made these for a friends party, but they were so good that Matthew and I gobbled them up at home causing me to make a second batch!
Even though these are called “cookies” they’re really not cookies at all, but I find them to be a delicious cookie substitute for holiday gifts, bake sales, and even leaving out for Santa (wink wink). They’re not made with flour or butter, but instead only require 4 simple ingredients – chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, peanuts and chow mein noodles. Yup, chow mein noodles! You can use the skinny ones that come in the can or you can use the wide ones that are usually sold in a bag, I prefer the wide ones.
The BEST BAKED MINI Sweet Potato Casserole with BROWN SUGAR Pecan Topping! This easy Southern recipe uses BAKED sweet potatoes to really bring out the flavor! There is a delicious brown sugar pecan crumble on top! I love baking these as mini casseroles as it’s a beautiful presentation at Thanksgiving dinner and everyone gets to eat their own! You can even make these ahead of time and heat up!
Next year we are growing sweet potatoes in the garden because this year I finally fell in love with them in the kitchen! You might have seen my creamy Sweet Potato soup last week, well now I’m back with a Sweet Potato Casserole in Mini individual size!
Mini Sweet Potato Casserole
These MINI Sweet Potato Casseroles With Brown Sugar Pecan Topping are so cute and so delicious! Everyone gets to eat their own mini casserole so they’re going to be a hit at the next holiday dinner!
Let’s talk sweet potatoes first, ok? The way to bring out the flavor of sweet potatoes isn’t by boiling them, but by baking them! Trust me on this! If you did a taste test with a boiled and baked sweet potato, and then mashed it, you would absolutely agree that the baked sweet potato is SO much better!
Root Beer Halloween Bundt Cake recipe! This cake is easy to make and is so moist inside! I decorate it with a black sugar glaze and sprinkles on top for Halloween! It’s easy to use this recipe for a Christmas bundt cake too!
Did you see my Halloween Party post featuring Eyeball Sherbet Punch? In the post I mentioned that I made a Root Beer Bundt Cake for Halloween that was a bit hit! Some of you guys asked for the recipe, so I’m back with pictures and the recipe!
This is one of my favorite cake recipes because it’s easy, delicious and perfect for Halloween! The cake is made with root beer making it moist and soft inside! It’s decorated with a black sugar glaze and festive sprinkles which is the right amount of spookiness!
Eyeball Sherbet Punch is a easy Halloween party food idea! Every party needs drinks so serve this SIMPLE 3 ingredient orange punch with scary candy eyeballs! Kids and adults will love this spooky recipe!
Boys and girls of every age, wouldn’t you like to see something strange? Come with us and you will see….this, our town of Halloween! This is Halloween – my favorite time of the year!
What’s not to love? Halloween is when I start seeing Brooklyn brownstones decorated with ghosts on the porch and zombie arms coming out of gardens. It’s when you see people dressed up as dinosaurs without anyone even looking twice (I admit this is NYC so that isn’t that strange to see). It’s the time of the year I get crafty with glitter pumpkins and cat garland!
Now it’s time to throw a Halloween bash with friends and families, bake a Root Beer Bundt Cake, serve Orange Sherbet Halloween Punch and dance! (to the Monster Mash – of course!)
To get you excited for the best holiday of the year – I did just that! I threw a spooky Halloween party! But what’s a party without good food and drinks?
Along with the sweets, make some creamy tomato or onion dip to serve with chips and pretzels!
For the main course, everyone loves finger food at parties, so serve jalapeno poppers, mini pizzas or just make it super easy and order some pizza! Trust me, everyone loves pizza at a party!
Halloween Punch Recipe
What else does every Halloween party need? A spooky Eyeball Sherbet Punch! I made a Midwestern classic Orange Sherbet Punch that has 2 key ingredients: Orange Sherbet and 7UP soda. I served it in a party sized glass punch bowl.
I love serving Sherbet Punch for Halloween because it naturally foams up and looks great on a festive tablescape. To make it more ghoulish for my graveyard setting, I added some lime slice and floating eyeball candies on top!
Kids will find this punch fun with it’s bright color and appearance! Adults will love the sweet taste. You can easily “spike” this punch if you’re having a adults only party too!
Some types of alcohol to add to this punch would be vodka, white rum, a fruity schnapps or even champagne! Play around with the flavor to see what tastes best to you!
Eyeball Sherbet Punch is a easy Halloween party food idea! Every party needs drinks so serve this SIMPLE 3 ingredient orange punch with scary candy eyeballs! Kids and adults will love this spooky recipe!
Pour 7UP into punch bowl. Add sherbet by big spoonfuls to the bowl. Cut up lime slices and add them on top. To make it more spooky, add eyeballs and gummy worms to punch bowl.
BANANA Oat BREAD Cookies tastes just like banana bread! This healthy, easy to make recipe makes 3 dozen cookies filled with oatmeal, walnuts, chocolate chips! These cookies are soft and packed with protein to make the best breakfast or dessert!
What I love: cookies, bananas, banana bread. What I don’t love: overripe, brown bananas. With a bunch of bananas in the kitchen ripening quickly, there’s only one thing to do.. make Banana Oat Bread Cookies!
Do you have a fear of ripe, brown bananas too? Maybe it’s because it’s Summer time but lately my bananas have been ripening at much quicker speeds than usual. I like to eat bananas when they hit that perfect spot of just turning yellow – but no brown spots on them yet. The timeline for a perfect banana is slim. Once it starts to brown and turn soft I can’t eat them “raw” anymore. But that’s totally ok, because soft bananas are like the Cinderella of this story, except they don’t turn into a pumpkin at midnight, instead they turn into delicious cookies!
DOUBLE CHOCOLATE Peanut Butter Protein Cookie Recipe! This easy recipe makes 2 dozen delicious, healthy cookies made with chocolate protein powder. I love eating these chewy cookies for breakfast or a afternoon snack because they’re a great source of iron, protein and fiber!
This protein cookie recipe is AMAZING! They’re double chocolate, peanut butter and made with chocolate protein powder which gives a nutritional boost! Who doesn’t love a cookie that packs a punch with sources of iron, and high in protein and fiber? I made these cookies a few days ago to rave reviews and they were gone the next day. They’re that good.
protein powder cookies
With the arrival of baby, I find myself lagging during the afternoon and forgetting to eat lunch. With a newborn baby, there’s something always needing to be done from snuggles, feeding, diapers, cleaning, laundry and saying out loud “I love you so much but why won’t you stop crying? Please talk to me and tell me why!”. These cookies are perfect to grab and go, not only during the afternoon but during the middle of the night feeds and pumping too.
