Kim Etchoe says
Can this be cooked on low and for how long?
Pamela says
Hey Kim, I usually cook this on high but I would cook the meatballs on low for 5 hours, and then add the vegetables and cook for 4-5 more hours. Hope this helps!
Andrea says
Very tasty my family loved it! I think next time I will add 2 pks of Meatballs. I had lots of sauce and veggies left.
Jennifer Eveleigh says
Just made first time. Used broth. Used cream of chicken instead of cream of mushroom.
Haven’t eaten yet but the taste test is great.
Nancy A Norris says
use beef broth instead of water
Rebecca says
Hi, I made this and my husband and I loved it!!!! My kids however didn’t care for the rosemary infused into it! 🙁 Have you ever used any other seasonings or have a yummy substitute suggestion?
I still give it a 2 thumbs up!!! 🙂
Thanks Rebecca
Pamela says
Hey Rebecca, I’m glad half of your family liked it! Hah. Sure, you can substitute with 1 teaspoon oregano instead – that’s usually a more kid friendly thumbs up! Enjoy!
Brooke says
So is it 3/4 cup water or 2 3/4? The recipe says both!
Pamela says
Hey Brooke, it’s 2 3/4 cup water total. Step 1 calls for 3/4 cup and Step 4 calls for 2 cups. Enjoy the casserole!
Lynda says
Can we use are own meatball recipe in place of the frozen store bought ones?
Pamela says

Oh my word, I hopped over here from #ThisIsHowWeRoll the second I saw this because: 1)I have two teenagers with insane schedules that change every single night, one self-employed husband who works long hours, and a slow cooker that needs to be filled with something for them to eat; and 2)I have this enormous bag of frozen meatballs leftover from my daughter’s HS grad party last June that need to be used. I think it is no exaggeration to say that this recipe might just change our lives. 😉 Thank you so much!
Meghan says
With using the frozen meatballs, did you change the timing at all? Thanks!
Pamela says
Hey Meghan, I recommend defrosting the meatballs first so they aren’t completely frozen. Enjoy, this is one of our favorite casseroles!
Avani says
Thanks so much for this idea. Sounds fantastic.

I never thought about using meatballs in a potato casserole. This is a great idea!! I will be trying this recipe soon.
Julie- Logger's Wife says
That looks amazing! Why do I never think to use meatballs in less traditional ways? 😉
Melissa says
I saw this in my inbox this morning so decided to make it. It was AMAZING. We served alongside some egg noodles and everyone wanted second helpings!
Dorea says
Did you replace to pototes with egg noodles? I can’t wait to try it.
Danielle Bethke says
Really enjoyed this! Made it tonight. Added thyme from the garden, in addition to fresh rosemary. Mine was more liquid-y broth than stew-like. Did I do something wrong? But amazing, none-the-less.
Dorea says
Should I reduce the cup of water in this recipe? Or use the flour and water to thicken the sauce?
