It’s good. I made a bunch of changes because I had the extra seasonings. I subbed the salt and pepper for coarse salt and peppercorns, and added chicken bullion powder, mustard seeds (about a tbsp), and Italian seasoning at the suggestion of Chris. This is good if you want to get rid of cabbage, root vegetables, or leftover chicken soup in place of the broth. I think it’d be best with high quality kielbasa as the meat favor soaks through the most.
Chris says
Was very good but bland. Will add Italian seasonings next time. Also, didn’t serve with anything else. I felt this recipe had meat, vegetable and starch so it didn’t need anything else.

I loved this recipe! It lasted for three days! I added miniature Brussel sprouts, crushed cauliflower and sweet peppers.

I really love this. Simple but delicious! I added carrots for extra veggie. I also added my noodles into the crockpot after I cooked and drained them to allow them to get flavor from the broth.
Debbie says
Hope this works as 8 have in my slow cooker now.
Ginny says
I will put carrots In instead of potatoes if I’m going to eat with noodles
Natasha says
this recipe is now a weekly staple in our house! Make it Keto friendly by removing the potatoes and not adding rice or egg noodles with a keto friendly brown sugar sub 🙂 Also if anyone is wondering this recipe also works on high for 3.5hours. I also added a little slap ya momma, well i had that to everything, lol.
Hope says
I have a question!? Could you use purple cabbage instead of green?
Pamela says
Yes, you absolutely can! 🙂
Jennifer says
Do u have to cook the sausage before u put in the crockpot?
Vickie says

Terri says
I’m making this right now…and i will leave another comment. Cant wait till its done..i add to add water and beer i had no broth. Im doing this on high. Late start i hope it turns out on high cook.
Vicki says
This recipe has been on my radar for awhile, but son won’t eat cabbage so I put off trying it until yesterday…..boy did it hit the spot! (Son had easy-to–make tacos.) Since my husband and I are doing low carb I only snuck in one medium potato and used Swerve brown sugar substitute. That little bit of sweetness really took this to a new level! I ended up using all of a 17 oz. can of chicken broth in the end as it started looking like it needed some more liquid, but that delicious broth was SO good. I could eat this every week and not get tired of it….husband loved it too!
Lynda Bauman says
Can this recipe cook on high for shorter time ?
Lynda Bauman says
This looks so easy and so good . Thank you .

Nice twist on haluski. I also added a small apple & a bit of caraway seed, just because. I forgot to boil the noodles, so we skipped them. So yummy we all had seconds & thirds 🙂
Megan says
I love cooking this! Do you have any advice for cooking it quicker over stove top?
Pamela says
Thank you! I haven’t made this exact recipe on the stove top, but perhaps you’d like this one (https://brooklynfarmgirl.com/kielbasa-and-brussels-sprouts-skillet/) – just replace the brussels sprouts with cabbage! 🙂
Vicki Marchino says
Can I use something in place of kielbasa?
Pamela says
Really any type of sausage or bratwursts would work!
Jennifer Thorpe says
Delicious! Cooked it while I slept and couldn’t wait til lunch to try it. Ended up eating for breakfast!
Pamela says
This honestly made my day! Thanks for commenting, I’m so happy you liked the recipe!
Morton says
Why the brown sugar
Emily Williams says
Does it need to be cooked on low or could it be cooked on high for 4 hours?
Pamela says
Hey Emily, I would cook on high for around 3-3.5 hours. That should be enough time to soften the cabbage and potatoes. Enjoy the recipe!
Gail says
Why would you serve a dish containing potatoes over noodles?
Pamela says
Because my family loves it that way. 🙂 If it’s not what you prefer, then skip the egg noodles.
Meg says
I make this recipe at least once a week. It is a staple in our household. I love how I can just turn the crockpot on low and leave the house and it is ready when I come home. We add a little sour cream as dipping sauce
