Easy step by step instructions on how to freeze fresh green beans without blanching.  These green beans will last up to a year. You can use them in casseroles, soups, stir fry and more!

If your garden is anything like ours right now you might be picking pounds and pounds of green beans.  And if you’re anything like me, you really don’t want to turn on your stove to boil water to preserve your green beans during the Summer.

Last year I started to freeze our fresh green beans this way and they stayed extra fresh, keeping their bright green color and crunch.   These frozen green beans last up to a year in the freezer making them a easy and economical way to save your green beans.

Can you freeze green beans without blanching?

Yes!  You can freeze fresh green beans without blanching.  The method below saves time because it doesn’t require blanching the beans.   You’re just going to trim the ends off, chop into desired sizes, wash them and freeze!  It’s that easy!

This is my tried and tested method that I’ve been using for years with our green beans!

Good grief. And USians wonder why the rest of the world thinks they are getting steadily weirder? Look out for your hands, BFG, the one you use to write with might be for the chop.

Meanwhile, I have a shipload of purple runners I was about to blanch (It’s summer in the Southern Hemisphere). Thanks for the tip, BFG. It’s my guess that blanching might be needed if one is serving a side of crunchy ones on a plate, but for all other purposes I think this is a bleeding good shortcut.

Gosh Darn, Golly, Gee Whiz! Great info, thought I HAD to blanch.

    Great info

    And ………

I highly doubt you were using the “God Damn” term masliciliously, so I doubt you will be judged on that when your time comes.

The fact you appreciate your food and are trying to save it should have Mother Nature on your side too.

People, come on now, a well written bit of free information from someone who is trying to educate the masses!

Show some respect, instead of whining about a certain use of words, why not explain why you took offense and simply educate back as to your reasons for the offense.

This us the problem with our world today. People JUDGE instead of TALKING.

Shame on all those who chose to judge instead of explain.

    Good Job

How dare you attack others for defending The Lords Name!!!! Shame on you! I will say a prayer for all here who have defended the one who used His name in vain. God knows who you are.

Oh my goodness. Look at all the Christian Karenโ€™s. Remember the bible says not to judge and that you will be met with the mercy you meet others. Why not be a kind example of what a Christian is instead of harassing a woman trying to teach you something good. Leave it between her and god and stay out of it. Ever consider he judges on intent not letters?thank you for your tutorial.

This right here! ๐Ÿคฃ Made me chuckle! This is my first year growing green beans and they took forever to go from flowers to fruit. I didnโ€™t think they were ever going to produce pods. Lo and behold – now i have bunches of green beans and very proud of myself, LOL. When all I really did was stick some seeds in the ground. Thanks for the good info on freezing.

However, how low can one go to think they are so important that they can use g** damn like you did. Why lower yourself to contribute to information that others can truly use? I will not attempt to follow you in any way. Thanks for the info on green beans but just know that you did not impress another reader at all with your misuse of language and expression.
