Easy step by step instructions on how to freeze fresh green beans without blanching.  These green beans will last up to a year. You can use them in casseroles, soups, stir fry and more!

If your garden is anything like ours right now you might be picking pounds and pounds of green beans.  And if you’re anything like me, you really don’t want to turn on your stove to boil water to preserve your green beans during the Summer.

Last year I started to freeze our fresh green beans this way and they stayed extra fresh, keeping their bright green color and crunch.   These frozen green beans last up to a year in the freezer making them a easy and economical way to save your green beans.

Might be a silly question… but are once frozen fresh green beans still good to eat plain? She mentions using them in casserole but I usually just stream them. Or does freezing make them mushy once cooked? Thanks!

Okay, while I agree that there are other ways to express oneself, she did use a lowercase ‘g’ when writing. While there is only one God, there are a plethora of gods, now and throughout history. If verbally expressed it would be ambiguous.,

I do like your method, but I will not follow your blog due to one glaring offense. Why did you have to use the Lord’s name in vain in your write-up? Okay, maybe you have no spiritual guidance in your life, but many of us do and you insult some of your reader’s with those words. And it was totally unnecessary. You want to say something is damn easy? Then just say that and leave God out of it. I don’t care who agrees or disagrees with me on this. I’m not here to win a popularity contest. I’m just telling you it was offensive to me and will be to many others. Not a smart move for someone who is trying to appeal to the masses.

Not an extreme religious view. Christians worldwide know, from the Ten Commandments, that we are told not to take God’s name in vain. I won’t be following her either because of it. MANY other blogs to follow instead.

I greatly appreciate your advice on freezing the beans. I’m looking forward to reading more of your helpful advice on homegrown vegetables. As for your language….I do have to say I was DEFINITELY caught off guard. I’ve never read a post regarding a simple and innocent action to have “gd” in it. Certainly made an impression on you. Had my granddaughter been reading this aloud I don’t know how I would have explained your inappropriateness of words. You really should appease us Bible reading, Trump supporters by simply saying, ” Yes I should have chosen kinder words”. The Lord does provide and we should give him praise not use in name in vain.

Hi Pamela, unfortunately I do not have a garden but I bought fresh green beans and followed your freezing instructions, now I’m in a bit of a dilemma. I want to cook them in my instant pot with ham hock ( southern style) my question is, should I thaw them first or cook them from frozen? Also, if your familiar with an instant pot do you have a good recipe with ham hocks and beans for Thanksgiving? I would greatly appreciate any advice you might have for me. Thank you for your time. 😊

Unfortunately I don’t have a IP ham recipe I can give you, but this is something I’ll add to my recipe list to get cooking! Stay on the lookout. Enjoy!

Using the phrase ‘god damn’ is not an automatic curse. Curses are said in anger. I think your God frowns upon cursing in anger. God does not frown upon jokes. Jokes are usually not told in anger, and certainly not in this case. Some good Christian posted using the phrase ‘Good Lord’. ‘lord’ is a position of power, not a name. It is the same with the word ‘god’. It is a position of power, not a name, capitalized or not. It is not gods name. If saying ‘god damn’ is wrong, so is saying ‘good Lord’. Especially in this case because it was used to admonish someone, to cast judgement. Oh well. Tomorrow I harvest pole beans and freeze sweet corn after grilling. Thanks for the info.
