Dandelion Tea Donuts
Maybe this blog should be called Brooklyn Donut Girl. If you haven’t noticed I’m a bit donut obsessed lately…
What else am I obsessed with? Tea. The craze started when I was elementary school and my mother started to serve me a cup each morning. Let’s just say it rapidly increased to me declaring a lot of tea whenever I go through a airport. It’s a strong love.
First, let’s talk dandelions. Yeah, I’m talking about those pesky flowers you probably curse under your breath about when you spot them in your garden. Of if you’re like me, you cut them up, tie a string around them, throw on a garden dress and pretend to have a wedding in the garden. 30 years old and forever a flower girl.
The best Glazed Carrot Cake Donuts recipe! This recipe is easy to make, resulting in moist soft donuts! These homemade baked donuts are made with fresh carrots and taste just like carrot cake!
Do you love donuts? Do you love carrot cake? Then I have the perfect recipe for you!
This Winter we got very lucky with our carrots. We didn’t have high hopes for them but upon one Spring cleanup day we were surprised to find pounds of carrots hiding under the soil waiting for us to find them. It was a big surprise and it created some even bigger garden smiles
Aren’t they just beauties? I just can’t get enough of fresh carrots. There’s nothing like the taste of a carrot that was just picked. Sometimes I nibble on one as soon as I pick it, I just can’t help myself. So I took the carrots down to the kitchen and pondered… What to make?

FAQ for this recipe:
Where can I buy a donut pan?
You can buy one at kitchen supply stores, most large department stores and of course – Amazon! I recommend getting 2 pans as most recipes make 12 donuts.
Is your recipe right, do I really need to use 6 eggs?
Yes, you really do. Coconut flour is super absorbent and needs extra liquid in it. When substituting coconut flour for all purpose flour, you should add 1 extra egg for every 1/4 cup of coconut flour being added. For example, this recipe when using all purpose flour calls for 2 eggs, but since we’re using 1 cup coconut flour we need to add a extra 4 eggs equaling 6 eggs. I know this sounds crazy if you’ve never used coconut flour but you’ll be amazed by how much the flour absorbs the liquid.
Can I use all purpose flour instead of coconut flour?
Yes, use 1 cup all purpose flour and 2 eggs (instead of 6).
My donuts always fall apart when they come out, what did I do wrong?
Most likely you didn’t cook them long enough so please (especially with this recipe) make sure to use a toothpick to insert into a donut to make sure they are fully cooked. When you are absolutely sure they are fully done, remove from the oven and let cool for 15 minutes. After that I use a butter knife and gently scrape around the edges to remove each donut.
Do I have to use beet powder?
Of course not – that just gives them a pretty natural color. If you want to add no color to the frosting, don’t add add beet powder (it will just be a plain white frosting). If you don’t have beet powder you can use blueberries (great for a natural dye) or food coloring (not so natural).
How many donuts does this recipe make?
It makes 12 dozens.
HOMEMADE BAKED Sugar Donuts recipe that is easy to make and ready in 15 minutes. These simple and extra soft donuts taste just like raised sugar donuts from your favorite bakery!
We live in a world filled with crazy and exciting donut flavors and combinations. Remember the half donut/half croissant craze? Have you checked out the exotic flavors that bakeries are offering for donuts?
There’s Blood Orange, Cafe Au Lait, Hibiscus, Passion Fruit, Horchata, Matcha and more. And while these unique flavors are exciting, sometimes it’s just not practical nor economical to hunt down the ingredients.
Maybe I’m just not an adventurous foodie. Sugar, Glazed, Chocolate donuts – now you’re talking my language. So, because I was craving donuts today, I came up with this simple Homemade Baked Sugar Donuts recipe. I think you’ll love it. Who else loves homemade baked donuts? Me, me, me!
How to Make Sugar Donuts
Homemade Sugar Donuts Recipe
When you make your own donuts at home you know exactly what is going into them. There are no fillers and extra junk that donuts really don’t need. And let’s face it, as delicious as those exotic donuts are, do we really know what’s in them?
This recipe is so simple and requires almost nothing that you don’t already have around the house. You will need a donut pan! Make the $10 investment and buy one because it’s worth it!
These homemade donuts are so delicious and extra soft! They are made with buttermilk so you know they are going to be moist and soft. These donuts are not heavy at all but instead have a light, airy texture to them, more like a raised donut.
Buttermilk Substitute With Vinegar
Not everyone keeps buttermilk around the house, but it is easy to substitute if you cannot make a run to the store. I know how it is when you want your donuts NOW! So instead, you can use 1 1/2 teaspoon of white vinegar or lemon juice plus enough milk to measure 1/2 cup. Stir it and let stand for 5 minutes. Then you’re good to go!
Buttermilk Substitute With Yogurt
Another option is using 1/2 cup of plain yogurt instead of the buttermilk. It’s much more common to have regular milk or yogurt in your house than buttermilk, unless you are someone who bakes all the time.
This recipe is so quick and easy. Mix up your batter, throw your donut pan in the oven for 15 minutes, let cool for a few minutes and then shake the donuts in a bag of sugar and your Homemade Baked Sugar Donuts are ready to be eaten and enjoyed!
It really is that quick! You’ll be eating your own delicious donuts in no time. Eat them while they’re still warm, yummmm.
They are great for breakfast, a snack and dessert. They are so simple that you can make up a batch anytime you feel like it with no trouble at all. It’s so easy that many of my readers have told me they had fun baking them (and eating them!) with their kids too.
I hope you like them as I do (and I really, really like them)! Feel free to mix it up too. Add some raw cacao to make chocolate donuts. Make a simple glaze with powdered sugar and milk and glaze them. The possibilities are endless.
Easy to make Chocolate Coffee Donuts with Vanilla Chocolate Chip Frosting! This donut recipe is a family favorite! Everyone thinks they’re delicious!
I have to tell you something. I made these Chocolate Coffee Donuts to take to work to share with everyone, but instead I kept them at home because I wanted to eat them all. And I did, I ate them all, and I didn’t regret it one bit.
Chocolate Coffee Donuts
These donuts are the best of all worlds, moist chocolate donuts, vanilla frosting that sticks perfectly to the donuts, mini chocolate chips on top, and the sublte taste of coffee. What gives the donuts a special taste is that I used 1 tablespoon of Folgers instant coffee granules in the batter. Use 1-2 tablespoons depending on how “coffee” you want it to taste. I love how simple Instant coffee is to use in recipes!
These are perfect breakfast or brunch donuts to serve alongside a nice cup of coffee. They also make a great dessert. I love that you can get a small dose of your caffeine fix in, while eating a donut!
I have a thing for donuts. When I’m home and craving a sweet, or need to bring a dessert to a party, I usually grab my handy donut pan and get to work. Sometimes I’m feeling vanilla, other times chocolate, and maybe I’m feeling crazy so I add some tea or berries to make a new flavor. If you don’t have a donut pan, buy one, it will be a life changing moment when you make donuts for the first time.
That’s how these Fudgy Milk Chocolate Donuts With Peanut Butter Frosting happened. I needed donuts.
In the What I LOVE series, I’m sharing current things that I love. Maybe it’s cats, maybe it’s a new restaurant, maybe it’s a new cookie, maybe it’s… anything!
So it’s finally the rush to the Holidays. Have you begun shopping yet? I haven’t, but I will begin soon. I’m not a Black Friday shopper because usually I’m too impatient and too picky. What I love is finding that special gift for a friend or loved one that fits them perfectly. You know that friend who is obsessed with donuts (that’s me!) then why not get her a donut clutch handbag so she can never be too far from her beloved sweets?
When I was flipping through the pages of Marie Claire I started to get some ideas for my fashion forward and sweet tooth friends. I love browsing magazines for ideas but I usually don’t love those price tags that come with it. You know it’s not going to be good when the price says “Price upon request”. So below are some of my favorite trends without those giant price tags.

I am so in love with that dress along with the clear bag that I’m seeing hearts in my own eyes. Maybe Matthew is reading this…. Hello lovely! Oh and that Robot bag, I can’t stand how cute it is.
Recipe for Matcha Green Tea Vanilla donuts. Recipe makes 10 donuts. These are perfect for a tea party, birthday party or dessert!
Green tea is totally my favorite cup of the moment. I go in between green jasmine and jasmine pearl because it’s so hard to pick a favorite. My tea preference changes on the weather, so with Spring visibly right around the corner (hopefully) my morning cup has changed from dark to a light green tea. In the Spring I crave freshness, seeing the markets slowly have more fruits gets me excited. I’ve been buying raspberries and watermelon to get ready for our own garden season (coming soon).
Say hi to my new best friends, Vanilla Peanut Butter Donuts with Matcha Green Tea Frosting.
I used the matcha green tea powder to make a super smooth frosting that is perfect for spreading on a donut or a cupcake. For these, I threw the frosting in a piping bag and put on top of vanilla with a touch of peanut butter donuts. These were a big ol hit and gone within minutes.
The frosting not only looks pretty but it tastes amazing too. Wish just 2 teaspoons of green tea matcha powder, it transforms the frosting to give it that green tea taste. Even if you aren’t serving these to tea lovers, I can be pretty sure they’ll be none left at your party! I also love how pastel this frosting turned out, doesn’t it scream Spring?
The donuts are moist and “cakey”. They are half cake, half donuts, 100% delicious. I love filling my donut pan up pretty full to just have the tops flat instead of the visible hole. So if you’re ready to start Spring on the sweet side, throw on your prettiest dress and make these Vanilla PB Donuts with Matcha Green Tea Frosting!
The time is close… who else is getting excited wrapping presents and smelling pine when they walk in the door?
Who else is sad that no matter how hard you try, your cats will never love the idea of dressing up for Christmas?
Every year I try… every year I fail.
Goblin is thinking “Please someone help me…I’m not a reindeer.”
And in this one Xanadu is plotting on how to push me off the bed tonight..
One of these days I’ll get them in a costume.. maybe while the’re sleeping! 🙂
I am a donut lover. As a kid my mom worked at the donut shop and she would always bring me home my favorite blueberry donut. At Halloween she’d bring me home little festive munchkins that were decorated like Frankenstein and pumpkins. Sometimes before school for breakfast on a busy day, I’d run into the gas station and buy a donut. So what I’m saying is that the donut love has been strong for a long time.
I’ve been craving a good homemade donut but wanted to make them fun for the holidays, so I decided to do a #CandyCaneHacks donut recipe. Say hello to Chocolate Donuts with Peanut Butter Candy Cane Frosting.
The donuts are chocolate are oh so moist. I only made a batch of 6 because I wanted to play it safe.. and only eat 6. 🙂
The frosting is magical. I’m serious guys. It casts a delicious spell on you when you can’t do anything but eat it. I went back at least 6 times and took a spoonful of this. It’s so fluffy and has the perfect peanut butter taste to it.
You’ll want to crush up your candy cane until it’s almost powder like. I like when it gets that consistency where is’t not too big you’re going to feel a crunch, instead it’s just like peppermint sugar on top.
There’s not a day that goes by that I don’t wish I had a donut. Are you that way too?
I have a bit of a sweet tooth that I’ve always battled, basically my eyes tell me to eat all sugar treats in front of me. Most recently I broke open a bag of Halloween Oreos that I have been saving. Do you want to know what is the most depressing thing about these delicious cookies? They’re 100 calories, a cookie. My heart breaks just thinking about that. These cookies are so good I’d like to eat 6, not 1. And then there’s my middle of the night chocolate kisses I have been eating. I found a bag of kisses in the back of my cabinet and suddenly I feel like I need to eat multiple ones when I wake up during the night. Do you hear someone opening a plastic bag at 4AM in the morning? Don’t worry, it’s just me, standing in the dark, eating kisses, while cats circle me because they think it’s time to play. Then with chocolate melting in my mouth, I make my way back to bed. Horrible, aren’t I? Do you have a sweet right now that you are misbehaving with?
What else do I love? These peanut butter donuts with vanilla frosting. I had it in my head I wanted to start baking more with peanut butter so these sweets were made. I’m so happy I made this choice, the peanut butter is a great addition and it sure makes a filling donut. These would be pretty perfect for breakfast too. Start out your day with a donut, talk about a reason to wake up in the morning!
I made these one afternoon where I was craving blueberry and sweets. Matthew and I each had one, and we went to our own desks to continue to work. Then I heard Matthew walking towards me in the loft. His plate was empty. “Oh man, can I have another one of them?”
Isn’t that just the dream response?
I told him to eat his heart out. Then we talked about how we should stop doing our work and dedicate our lives to donuts. Oh maybe that was just me, I don’t know, these donuts hit me hard.
This Chocolate Donuts with Creamy Chocolate Frosting recipe is the best! Also included is a dairy free option!
If you were to ask me right now what is one of my most proud baking moments it would be these Chocolate Donuts with Creamy Chocolate Frosting. These are good. I’m talking real good. I’m talking magical. I’m talking swoon worthy, take a seat and enjoy the next minute of your life (it will be eaten quickly, you won’t be able to stop yourself).
And get this, they’re dairy free.
Are you amazed as I am? I hope so.
If I knew I could be making dairy free donuts that taste this rich and chocolaty I would have tried dairy free baking a while ago. I really can’t get over how good these are. They lasted about 2 days in my house because I could not control myself. The donuts themselves are so rich, soft and cake like. And the frosting? Goodness gracious. How good is the frosting? Let’s just say I doubled the batch, one for the donuts and one to just eat which Matthew and I both did. We grabbed 2 spoons, and ate the frosting out of a plastic baggie over the next few days (ok, it lasted one day). Did you know you can put frosting in a freezer bag to freeze it? Life changing. The frosting is incredible. Just writing about it has me all worked up and wanting to rush back into the kitchen and make another batch (I probably will).
So what I’m saying is if you love donuts, if you love chocolate, if you are dairy free or aren’t dairy free, you need to try these donuts. If there’s one thing I have posted on this blog that I really want you to try, these are high up there. I’m begging here, please try them. I want you to feel the chocolate sensation!
The frosting, oh god, pure ecstasy.
The donuts, soft and cake like.
Look at how soft these donuts are inside. I just want to cry from happiness.
For the recipe, I’m giving you dairy free and regular ingredients. Use whichever floats your donut loving heart.

These pancakes are easy to make and the recipe comes together in no time. Serve them with powdered sugar and a frosting tree on top! Perfect for Christmas morning breakfast!
One of my favorite parts of the holiday season is Christmas morning. As a kid, my parents had a rule that I had to stay upstairs until they went downstairs first and put on the tree lights. When Santa came on Christmas Eve, he would decorate our tree, so the first time I would see it all lit up and decorated was on Christmas morning.
