The Best Creamed Corn Made in the Crockpot

My 3 year old (Proxima) declares this the best, so there, I’m using her words! What’s not to love about sweet and tender corn coated in a cream sauce made of cream cheese, butter, milk and sugar? Yeah, it really is the best!

Simply throw everything into your slow cooker, cook for a few hours (high or low times are below) and your creamed corn is ready! It’s sooooo easy!

This creamed corn reminds me so much of Sunday dinner as a kid in the 80s, so I love serving it with other classic homemade dishes like: easy mashed potatoes, crockpot stuffing, hamburger steaks, Salisbury steak and buttery soy sauce mushrooms.

Ingredients for Creamed Corn

  1. Frozen corn, you can use a 32 ounce bag or (2) 16 ounce bags.
  2. Cream cheese, a whole 8 once package
  3. Butter, make sure it’s melted.
  4. Milk, I use whole milk.
  5. Kitchen basics: sugar, salt and pepper.

How long does creamed corn take in the crockpot?

Creamed Corn can be cooked in 4 hours on LOW or 2.5 hours on HIGH.

How to make creamed corn in the slow cooker

Add of the ingredients into the slow cooker, stirring to make sure the corn is completely coated.

ingredients in slow cooker before cooking.

Cover and then cook on either HIGH or LOW depending on how much time you have.

Now you have 2 options. You can serve as is or thicken it up. We prefer a thicker creamed corn, so I remove 1/4 of the ingredients and blend in a blender, or use an immersion blender directly in the crockpot.

Put the blended creamed corn back into the slow cooker and then stir.

Freezing and Storing

Leftover creamed corn can be kept in the refrigerator for up to 4 days in an airtight container.

You can freeze it for 3 months by putting it in a freezer safe storage container, or freezer bag and then freeze it. To defrost, I pop in the microwave for a few minutes and then heat up in a saucepan over medium heat.

Prep Time: 5 minutes minutes
Cook Time: 2 hours hours 30 minutes minutes
Total Time 2 hours hours 35 minutes minutes
serves 8

Ingredients

  • (2) 16 ounce bags frozen corn
  • 8 ounce package cream cheese
  • ½ cup butter melted
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon pepper

Instructions

  • Add of the ingredients into the slow cooker, stirring to fully combine and coat the corn kernels.
  • Cook on LOW for 4 hours or HIGH for 2 hours 30 minutes. Serve and enjoy!
  • My tip: To make it extra creamy, after it’s done cooking remove ¼ of ingredients and blend it in a blender or use immersion blender directly in crockpot. Add it back into the crockpot and then stir. This will make a more thick and creamy version of creamed corn.
