Healthy, refreshing watermelon smoothie with strawberries and other fruit. This 105 calorie dairy free smoothie is so easy to make – throw everything in the blender and blend!

Yummy Watermelon Smoothie

I love this watermelon smoothie because it’s filled with some of my favorite Summer fruit! I love using fruit straight from our NYC garden, and I even freeze some so I can enjoy this smoothie in the Winter too.

It includes fresh watermelon and strawberries with a touch of lime to create a delicious Summer-feeling smoothie!   Does anyone else love a touch of lime in their drink? This smoothie is healthy, giving you a burst of energy and low calorie (doesn’t use any milk).

And bonus: both of my kids absolutely love this smoothie. Whenever I make one for myself, I need to make one for them too!

Ingredients

You’ll need:

  1. watermelon (fresh or frozen)
  2. strawberries (fresh or frozen)
  3. lime juice
  4. mint

Throw everything in your blender and within seconds you’ll have a fresh drink!

Is frozen or fresh watermelon better for smoothies?

Honestly, both fresh and frozen watermelon work well for smoothies, each having their own pros. Fresh watermelon tastes amazing, and the sweetness really pops through in this smoothie. Frozen watermelon is very convenient, and when using frozen fruit you don’t need to add ice cubes. Use whichever you have on hand!

During the Summer I like to freeze watermelon that I can use during the Winter for smoothies. This is very budget friendly as you don’t need to buy watermelon when it’s out of season. To freeze, just chop it up and place in a freezer bag – so easy! I love using watermelon to make watermelon popsicles too!

What other fruit mixes well with watermelon?

Want to add more fruit to this smoothie? Try:

  • Berries – blueberries or raspberries
  • Bananas
  • Pineapple
  • Mango
  • Kiwis
  • Cantaloupe
  • Oranges
  • Coconut

Soo…. I tried really hard to convince one of the giant heads to move to Brooklyn and live in your garden but he was sort of into the Island, so I was forced to leave him behind. I hope you’ll settle for pictures, though, which I’ll have soon 🙂 Thank you again SO MUCH for making this delicious and oh-so-pretty smoothie for me to share while I was gone!

It is officially Autumn here now, I went out with a thick coat on today and was still cold. Also, it was raining. And I loved it! (I’m strange, I know) Still, this sounds so tempting and refreshing… I’m pinning it to try next Summer!

What a beautiful smoothie girl. I never think to freeze watermelon, but I should. I love this combination of flavors and the red vibrant color. It still feels like summer where we are, so this would be a super refreshing treat for the kids after school 🙂 xoxo, Jackie

I went strawberry picking a few weeks back and it was glorious! I was a bit dismayed that fall had hit Toronto but today we just started a heat wave so I’m whipping the summer berries back out (by that I mean picking them up at the market)…not sure what I am going to do with the 10 cans of pumpkin I just bought…I can’t bring myself to eat it when I am sweltering!!! LOL
