Strawberry Banana Protein Smoothies are quick, easy, and delicious! The chocolate protein powder adds enough subtle sweetness to the fruity flavors making it even more captivating. They are perfect to make in the morning if you don’t have time to cook a full breakfast. They are also perfect for a pre-workout energizing boost or to get you through in between meals!

These are also incredibly kid-friendly because of their natural sweetness! Most children love a fun and frozen iced drink because it reminds them of ice cream and milkshakes. They’ll never suspect they’re getting their daily vitamins, protein, and fruit servings with each and every sip!  For a kids smoothie, I like to swap the protein powder for cocoa powder – they love it!

The Best Strawberry Banana Protein Smoothie

This easy strawberry banana smoothie recipe only consists of a few simple ingredients and is packed full of flavor and protein! This delicious smoothie is a great way to start your day or to enjoy as an afternoon snack. It’s truly such an easy breakfast if you’re always on the go. To add a little extra sweetness to it, you can add maple syrup as a more natural sweetener. However, this strawberry banana protein shake is great as is. The delicious strawberry pair with chocolate protein is truly the best pairing! For more delicious ideas, keep reading!

For a fancy flourish, you can top your drink with a slice of banana, a slice of strawberry, and/or a fun cocktail umbrella. Who says a little smoothie break has to be boring? Make it picture perfect with just a few simple touches! This will make it even more fun for kids too. They’ll soon be asking for this as their afternoon snack every week and you can rest assured knowing they are getting tons of nutrients while they enjoy their drink!

How to Save Leftover Smoothie

If you’d like to save your smoothie for later, store in an airtight container and keep it in the refrigerator. If the consistency changes overnight, you can put it back in the blender with a few ice cubes. Ensure you drink it within 24 hours to maximize the chances you receive most of its nutritional value.

Benefits of Protein Smoothies

High protein diets are often used to aid in weight loss and as a way to aid in building muscle! While this may or may not necessarily always be the case, the benefits are said to be threefold:

  • Boost your metabolism
  • Helps control appetite
  • Aid in belly fat loss

Strawberry Banana Protein Smoothie Pro Tip

If you want to optimize your smoothie to have even more flavor, ditch the ice and use frozen fruit instead! That’s right, you can still get the same smoothie consistency by blending together extra frozen berries instead of opting for ice! You can freeze your own fresh fruit or by the packaged kind in the frozen section at your local grocery store!

Protein Smoothie FAQ

Can I use frozen strawberries instead? Yes absolutely! I always have some frozen berries in the freezer to save them before they go bad!

Can I use almond milk instead of water? Yes, you can use dairy milk or plant based milk, such as unsweetened almond milk, oat milk, coconut milk or soy milk, instead of using water.

Do I need to use chocolate protein powder? No, you can use vanilla or peanut butter protein powder instead. You can also use strawberry protein powder if you want to double the strawberry flavor! Use whatever your favorite protein powder out of the three!

Is this recipe vegan? If you ensure you are using vegan protein powder, all other ingredients are vegan friendly!

Why is my smoothie watery? To ensure your healthy strawberry banana smoothie maintains the right consistency, follow the exact measurements in the recipe card below. Pro tip: You can always add more ice and less liquid to ensure a thicker smoothie.

Can I add flax seeds or chia seeds? Yes! Both will work well with this smoothie recipe.

How can I make it kid friendly? Swap the protein powder for cocoa powder instead.
