Homemade Peanut Butter Oreos recipe that is so easy to make! This simple recipe makes a small batch of 8 soft cookie sandwiches.
Oreos. What can I say about them? You either love them or you really love them. There’s no hating Oreos.
Who only eats 2 Oreo cookies?
What I find shocking about Oreos is that a serving is 2 cookies. Have you ever only ate 2 Oreos? Honestly? Don’t lie to me. I don’t think it’s possible to only eat 2 Oreos. I think they have addicting like ingredients that make you eat at least 6. And that’s on a good day.
And then there’s the flavors of Oreos. Remember when it used to be just the chocolate with vanilla cream? Those were the days. Now you have Golden Oreos, Birthday Cake Oreos (yes!), Gingerbread Oreos (YES!), Candy Corn Oreos (YES YES!) and more. I have tried all the Oreos listed and think they are all delicious and that I did not only eat 2 of them. Seriously, 2 of them? I’ll never get over it.
So a few days ago I was craving Oreos but having a bag of Oreos in my house is a dangerous thing, especially when you ignore the serving size instructions. So I decided to make my own Homemade Peanut Butter Oreos!
Homemade Peanut Butter Oreos INGREDIENTS
Here’s everything you need to make these delicious peanut butter oreo cookies! The ingredients are simple and you probably already have everything in your kitchen cabinets!
For the sandwich cookies you’ll need:
- cocoa powder
- flour
- baking powder
- baking soda
- salt
- butter
- sugar
- brown sugar
- egg
- vanilla extract
For the peanut butter filling you’ll need:
- butter
- creamy peanut butter
- powdered sugar
- milk
How to Make
In a bowl mix together cocoa powder, flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt with a spoon. Note: You need 1/2 cup and 2 tablespoons flour. I know this is a very specific amount, but please follow. 🙂
In a separate large bowl using a hand mixer cream together butter, sugars, egg and vanilla.
Add dry mixture to wet mixture and continue to mix until combined.
Cover cookie dough with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1 hour. Please make sure to chill the dough, it’s a important step!
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Roll the dough into large teaspoon size balls.
Place balls on cookie sheets that have been sprayed with nonstick spray, or put down silicone baking mats. Once balls are down use a spatula to gently flatten them down.
Bake cookies for 8 minutes.
Now it’s time to make the peanut butter filling!
In a bowl use a hand mixer combine the butter and peanut butter until creamy.
Add powdered sugar and milk and continue to mix until combined and a cream filling forms.
Take one cookie and put filling on it. Then take another cookie and put it on top. Flatten down with your hand slightly to make the cookie sandwich.
Now my favorite part – time to eat the cookies! 🙂
Small Batch Cookie Recipe
This is a small batch recipe treat. I get intimidated seeing 30 Oreo cookies sitting in my kitchen so this batch makes 8 of them. I think 8 is a fair amount as it will only last a few days (hahahahaha) and you can share with the people you love the most. You could also eat all 8 yourself and I totally won’t judge you for that.
Enjoy these homemade peanut butter oreos!

I am not a big oreo fan… at least I don’t like the commercial ones. In fact, the first time I tried oreos must have been 3 years ago. It’s just very American. ๐ BUT I would always want to try your homemade version because I have always enjoyed homemade cooking. Thanks for sharing and I hope you have been doing fine!
Joanne says
I rarely buy oreos because, yeah. We totally eat the whole container in one sitting! But homemade are a different story…having a major craving now thanks to you!
Kelly says
These look better than any oreos I have ever seen! The peanut butter filling is totally calling my name:) Nope I could never eat just 2 – more like I would have a hard time not polishing off this entire batch – it looks amazing!
GiGi Eats says
OMG these look WAYYYY to addicting!!! I would eat them ALLLLLLL and then want more. lol

Now these are my kind of oreo! Love all the extra peanut butter goodness. You can’t go with more filling!
Lindsey @ American Heritage Cooking says
Can I tell you a secret? Sometimes I get overwhelmed by all the flavors of oreos now. Sometimes I do wish for the days when, if you wanted a double stuffed oreo, you had to find a friend who didn’t like the middle. I was that friend. And, no, no one eats just two. Nor would I be eating just 2 of your pb stuffed oreos! Those look fabulous! Way better than the original. Pinned!
Kristi @ Inspiration Kitchen says
Pamela – OMGosh girl – you know peanut butter is one of my favorite things of all time. And, you put it in an oreo??? After I eat 7 dozen of these, I’m going on a diet!!! ๐
Suzanne says
Oh yum want to have one or a dozen now. Look delish!
Monica says
I’m glad you had that vanilla cream problem but the PB filling has me drooling! So craving one of these right now. You are smart to make a small batch…there’s no controlling yourself around these babies. One bite and it’s on and on…

Nope, I have never eaten just two oreos. And I definitely couldn’t stop at two with these. Holy cow they look addictive!
John@Kitchen Riffs says
I always thought a serving of Oreos was an entire row. ๐ Oreos are great — one of the few commercial cookies we’ll buy. We really should make our own, and this looks like the perfect recipe to try. This is wonderful — thanks.
Min says
Yeaโฆsticking to serving size is very.very difficult with oreos. That’s why I don’t ever buy it! And I love that you were able to think on your toes and turn it into a pb filling instead! I don’t think I’ve ever had pb oreos but it sure does sound incredible. And your photos are so gorgeous. I just want to reach in and grab one..or twoโฆ;)
Maria | Pink Patisserie says
Oh my goodness those are calling my name! Mouthwatering! Completely agree with you on the Oreo front. Who can do that? I
Abbe@This is How I Cook says
I only can eat one oreo at a time. That’s all my mouth will hold! Then I begin again! Try freezing your shortening. I hardly use it, but that’s what I o to make it last longer!
Jamie | Jamie's Recipes says
Only eight cookies?! This is fabulous! Sometimes I need a smaller batch (no self control). I can’t wait to pop these into my daughters’ lunch boxes for a surprise treat.
marcie says
Homemade oreos are the best, especially when they involve pb&c!
Alyssa @ My Sequined Life says
About that Oreo serving size…pffft. That rarely happens. I LOVE everything about these, including all of that fluffy PB filling you’ve stuffed in there. And the fact that this recipe makes 8. The two of us can handle 8…well we could handle way more than 8 but I bet we wouldn’t be feeling too great if that was the case!
Annie @Maebells says
These look amazing! I have never attempted at home oreos before, but that is changing soon! ๐
Jess @ whatjessicabakednext says
These cookies look amazing! Love the PB & oreo, so delicious!
Ashley says
haha yeah, there is definitely no way I can only eat 2 oreos in a sitting! That would be some serious self-control! These look awesome – and with peanut butter? Sold!
Gayle @ Pumpkin 'N Spice says
How could anyone hate oreos?! ๐ And I never eat just two, either. But especially with these peanut butter ones, I would probably devour the entire batch in just one sitting! These look absolutely amazing!
