Easy to make homemade egg noodles to serve in soup. Made from scratch with egg, salt, milk, flour and baking powder, costing about 50 cents.

Easy Homemade Egg Noodles

You’re going to love these homemade egg noodles! They are so easy to make with ingredients that I know you already have. I love making a batch of these when we’re going to have chicken noodle soup for dinner. My family absolutely loves them so I hope you do too!

Our favorite chicken noodle soups are: Chicken Noodle Soup Made with Chicken Thighs, Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup (made with a whole chicken), Creamy Chicken and Noodles and Slow Cooker Italian Chicken Soup.

How much do homemade egg noodles cost to make?

These homemade egg noodles made with 5 simple ingredients will cost you about 50 cents. This provides 4 servings of egg noodles.

Ingredients You Need

You will need egg, salt, milk, all-purpose flour and baking powder. I bet you already have these simple ingredients in your kitchen!

How do you make egg noodles from scratch?

Make the dough. Combine egg, salt and milk in a large bowl. In another bowl mix flour and baking powder. Add flour to egg bowl, mix.

Separate and form the dough into 2 balls, roll out to about 1/4″ thick and let sit for 20 minutes. Tip: When rolling out the dough, roll on floured wax paper for easy cleanup! No more scrubbing your countertop!

Cut into strips using a knife, pizza cutter or sharp scissors. Spread noodles out, dusting with a little flour. Let sit for 10 more minutes. Note: the noodles will double in size once cooked so always try to cut thin (unless you want chunky noodles).

Now they’re ready to use in soup, or freeze for later usage!

How long do egg noodles take in soup?

Bring soup to a low boil, add noodles and cook for 8-10 minutes.

Can I use a food processor to make the dough?

Yes, using a food processor makes it even easier, although I prefer cleaning a bowl instead of the food processor in the end.

If you want to use your food processor mix the egg and milk in a bowl. Place salt, flour and baking powder into the food processor bowl and pulse a couple times. While the food processor is on, slowly pour the wet ingredients through the feed chute. In a few seconds a dough ball will form.

How long can homemade egg noodles sit out?

To prevent bacteria growth, fresh noodles should only be kept at room temperature for 2 hours max. After that they should be cooked or placed in the refrigerator.

How can I store my egg noodles in the refrigerator?

Place noodles in an airtight container in the refrigerator, storing them for 48 hours. After 2 days, they will need to be used or frozen. To freeze, place in freezer bags and use within 2 months.

Help! Why are my homemade egg noodles tough?

If your egg noodles tasted a little tough you probably added too much flour. Make sure to measure exactly 1 cup sifted all-purpose flour.
