Halloween Meatloaf is a fun Halloween dinner recipe that is both spooky and tasty! Kids love that it looks like a zombie!

This spooky Halloween meatloaf looks like a zombie’s face! Your kids will love this for dinner, and it will probably terrify you. This meatloaf recipe is more than just scary, it’s scary good! Seriously, my kids say this is Mom’s best meatloaf and they love eating it! Enceladus always requests a zombie eyeball for her piece! Hah!

If you can get past the look of it enough to dig in, you’ll realize that your zombie face actually tastes quite delicious! I love making this fun meal around Halloween as it’s a nice activity to get my kids involved in the cooking process, or surprise them after school.

Why You’ll Love Halloween Meatloaf

You’ll love how fun this recipe is! Plus, this zombie meatloaf is pretty easy to make! Next time you need a delicious Halloween dinner, you’ll know exactly what’s on the menu! Everyone will love your creativity and appreciate the hearty meal. This Halloween-themed meatloaf is the perfect recipe to serve at your next costume party!

How to Make Halloween Meatloaf

This creepy yet tasty meatloaf should take about an hour to cook and about 20 minutes to prep! Once you have all your ingredients gathered together, it’s time to act like Frankenstein and build and construct your monster!

Add ground beef, crackers, cheddar cheese, onion, eggs, and pasta sauce to a large bowl. Combine with a spoon or use your hands.

ground beef and ingredients mixed up in bowl.

Next, add the meatloaf mixture onto a prepared pan and shape it into a zombie’s face, sculpting out eye socks too. Essentially, you want to cave out a skull shape with the meatloaf.

Next, Press down hard-boiled eggs into the eye sockets, making sure to shape the mixture around them to hold them in place while baking.

In a small bowl, mix pasta sauce, brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce to make the tomato sauce glaze. Use a brush and spread it on the entire zombie face, including the eyes. Whatever sauce is leftover, keep it in the fridge until serving.

Bake in the oven until the internal temperature reaches 160 degrees, this takes around an hour.

Allow to cool, and add pieces of canned corn for the teeth. I first scrape out a small section of the mouth before adding in the corn. You can serve the remaining canned corn as a side dish to this meatloaf. Add 1 slice of olive to each eye on top of the egg to make the eyeballs.

Other Spooky Zombie Ideas

  • Instead of corn for teeth, you can get creative and use sliced garlic cloves or almonds.
  • Add small cocktail hot dogs or spaghetti-o’s on top of the skull head for brains! Yuck! Bonus points if you have little mice to scatter around the zombie head (plastic mice, of course)!
  • Instead of serving as a zombie’s head, you can even form this easy meatloaf recipe into a zombie’s foot, using the pieces of corn as toe nails!

How to Serve Halloween Meatloaf

Serve your new favorite meatloaf recipe among a table of other fun Halloween treats, or for a cozy, festive dinner with a side of veggies! Honestly, it’s all in the presentation. As far as actually enjoying a meal, you can serve it with whatever you usually serve with your traditional meatloaf, like mashed potatoes, broccoli, etc.

How to Store Halloween Meatloaf

If you find yourself with a leftover zombie head you can store it in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-5 days.

This Halloween meatloaf is a fun way to enjoy a traditional meatloaf dinner in the spirit of Halloween! The whole family will adore this spooky dinner so much that it just might have to become a tradition!
