Chocolate Protein Powder Oatmeal Recipe

One breakfast I’ve been loving is Double Chocolate Protein Powder Oatmeal.   With this Chocolate Protein Oatmeal, I get what I need: protein to keep energy up and chocolate. Because who doesn’t want chocolate in the morning? I look forward to waking up now!

The best part? It’s incredibly easy to make. In just a few minutes, breakfast is ready! If you love quick, protein-packed options, try my Strawberry Banana Protein Smoothie made with chocolate protein powder for a afternoon pick me up, or bake a batch of Peanut Butter Protein Cookies to have on hand for an easy grab-and-go snack.

Ingredients

For my Chocolate Protein Powder Oatmeal you need one scoop of protein powder (I like both Vega and Quest) and a few basic ingredients that I know you have in your pantry.  Unlike other chocolate oatmeal recipes you don’t need cocoa powder because the protein powder adds enough chocolate taste.

I prefer using unsweetened vanilla almond milk because I love the taste, but you can use dairy, or even oat milk.

How to Make Chocolate Protein Oatmeal

This protein oatmeal is extremely easy to make, there’s really only 3 steps.

MIX. Combine milk (dairy or plant based), protein powder, sugar, vanilla and cinnamon in a saucepan over medium high heat, whisking for about 3 minutes.

whisk mixing almond milk and protein powder

BOIL. Add in the rolled oats and continue to cook for about 3-4 more minutes or until they reach a light boil.

SERVE. Pour oatmeal in a bowl and then add in a handful of chocolate chips. Serve and enjoy!

Interesting taste, I added a spoon full of peanut butter. Ate each bite with strawberries to get the protein powder down. Most likely will try another recipe but this was a good one time make!

That scoop looks much smaller than a regular “scoop” of protein. Is that a tablespoon scoop of the protein?

I just made this using the standard scoop that came with my protein powder. After watching the video, I think I probably put in 3x the amount of powder she did. I’m now working on eating an ok-tasting brick of an oatmeal protein bar/ball, lol. It’s okay, but her version looks a lot more appetizing.

I love the idea of this! I think there could be some variation depending on the protein powder because mine ended up with chalky texture. Do you have any advice on how to trouble shoot this? Would really love to give this another go!

Hey Rae, I think it really depends on the protein powder as some need a bit more work to mix it all together. Try adding a little bit more additional milk (I love unsweetened vanilla almond milk) and make sure you’re stirring the powder until it’s completely combined. Hope this helps!

Can I bulk make this and freeze it? Or does it not go well when defrosted?
Thanks so much – so easy and yet so tasty! Thanks! 🙂

This is so delicious already have made it 2x for after my workouts. The only thing I changed was 1 cup of almond milk instead of half. The first time I made it it came out almost like that “health bar” consistency of I make sense. Doing the 1 cup came out just how I like it. I also need to get dark chocolate chips for next time I only have semi-sweet chocolate baking chips right now. Lmao tell me why today I scrolled down and saw this is 2 servings and I’ve been eating two servings after my workout the past 2 days 😂. Smh but nonetheless delicious!

Congrats on giving up meat! Most people I know usually fail within a few weeks. Something about the way a bacon sandwich smells being a veggie for nearly 30 years I don’t really see the attraction. I’m glad you have found a protein supplement you like, its important to keep your diet balanced as being a veggie does mean you lack some essential stuff. Also keep an eye on your iron levels I had real problems when I was a kid and went veggie and had to take supplements. I too found I lacked energy halfway through the day, though a lot of cereals are naturally high in Iron these days. Which is good 😀 I’d love a bowl of this beauty for breakfast!

Thanks Emma! Before I started to go meat free my iron levels were at a freakish low amount so I’ve been on vitamins since. Next month I’m going to get my levels checked out again, along with the rest to see how it’s been doing since no meat. I don’t have that burger craving anymore, in fact I think black bean burgers are better!
