Bread Machine Garlic Bread
I’m absolutely obsessed with making bread in the bread machine, and our Bread Machine Italian Bread recipe is a family favorite! So, I thought it was time to take it up a notch and make a garlic bread version. This recipe is perfect because it’s simple, soft, and full of garlic flavor. Plus, you can take it a step further by broiling it at the end to make it extra cheesy and golden—just the way garlic bread should be! Garlic Bread Ingredients
- Water, This recipe requires a little additional water than my usual bread machine recipes because we’re adding in Parmesan cheese. The cheese soaks up the water, requiring more. I’ve done lots of test baking for this bread, and you can see how big of a difference 1/4 cup makes when making a smooth raised bread top.
- Olive oil
- Honey, adding a very subtle natural sweetness to the bread. You could skip it, but I wouldn’t.
- Bread flour, has more protein than all-purpose flour, which helps create a stronger dough and a better rise in bread machine recipes. This gives the bread a chewy texture and a nice, airy structure.
- Grated Parmesan cheese, makes bread machine garlic bread extra flavorful and adds a nice cheesy taste in every bite. It also helps give the crust a golden, crispy finish.
- Garlic powder, you can use 1-2 tablespoons depending on how garlicky you want it—I’m a garlic lover, so I always use 2 tablespoons!
- Salt
- Active dry yeast
How to Make Garlic Bread in the Bread Machine
Add the ingredients to your bread machine’s baking pan in the order recommended by the manufacturer. While I’ve listed them in the order I use, be sure to follow your machine’s specific guidelines.
Choose the WHITE BREAD (OR BASIC BREAD) setting, then press START.
This is how the bread looks after rising before it goes into bake mode.
And this is how it looks when the cycle is completely finished and bread is baked. Carefully remove the loaf from the machine and serve it however you like.
Now Let’s Make It Cheesy Garlic Bread
Ready to get wild and turn this into cheesy baked garlic bread? After removing the loaf from the bread machine, slice it into thick pieces. Spread a thin layer of butter on each slice, then top with a bit of shredded mozzarella, grated Parmesan, and a sprinkle of dried parsley.
Place the slices on a baking sheet and broil them in the oven for about 3-4 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
Storing Leftovers
Store the garlic bread in a plastic bag or wrapped at room temperature for 3-4 days for the best freshness. If you need to keep it longer, freeze it for up to 4 months.
