100 CALORIE brownie is a healthy single serving brownie recipe! This easy recipe makes a fudgy chocolate brownie for one in the microwave in 1 minute! These low calorie brownies are perfect for satisfying a sweet tooth!
100 Calorie Brownie
I’m obsessed with this 100 Calorie Single Serving Brownie! If you’re like me then when you make a batch of brownies you need to eat them all. Leave no brownie behind is my dessert motto! Remember these black bean brownies? Yeah, I would eat them all if they were in my kitchen!
Here’s a quick video I made to show you how easy it is to make this single serving brownie!
Single Serving Brownie Recipe
So what do you do when you want a brownie but you don’t want to make an entire batch to prevent the guilt? You make a single serving 100 calorie brownie!
You’re going to love these brownies because not only are they low calorie, but they only take 1 minute in the microwave. That’s right, you don’t have to wait 20 minutes for them to bake in the oven!
If you want to make your brownie slightly more creamy, then add a teaspoon of Nutella. Yes the calories will go up a bit, but it’s still much healthier than the usual brownie.
How to Make a Single Serving Brownie
Mix your dry ingredients (flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda and salt) in a small bowl or a mug.
Add 2 tablespoons of applesauce, no oil is needed for this recipe. I recommend my homemade applesauce recipe if you want to try to make apple sauce at home sometime. Yum!
Then mix all the ingredients up.
Cook the brownie in the microwave for 1 minute. Remove from the microwave and marvel at your beautiful brownie for one! Don’t you love how simple it was to make?
Serve as is or add some sprinkles or powdered sugar on top. I always add rainbow sprinkles because like my daughter says “Sprinkles make everything better!”.
Did you know it’s super easy to make homemade powdered sugar? For 1 cup of powdered confectioners sugar blend together 1 cup regular sugar + 1 tablespoon cornstarch until it’s powdery. Store in a mason jar in your cabinet.
Can you freeze brownies?
Absolutely. If you want to make a few of these to keep on hand, make as instructed in the recipe and then pop them into freezer bags! When you want to eat one, heat the frozen brownie in the microwave for about 15 seconds.

What a great idea. There are nights where my kids want dessert (most nights) and I don’t, so I’m going to stock up on these ingredients and make this up for them! Great idea 🙂 xoxo, Jackie
Pamela says
Hope your kids enjoy them! And if you want to sneak one in too.. 😉
Serena @ Serena Bakes Simply From Scratch says
Ha..Ha.. I’m a cocoa powder hoarder too! Glad to hear I’m not alone! These brownies look like heaven!

Hahaha, join the club! 😉 At least we’re stocked in case of a cocoa emergency!
Sunnie@ModernGirlNutrition says
What a yummy cake! And those are the cutest bowls ever. I raid Home Goods and Tuesday Morning for fun plates and dishes for the blog 😉
Pamela says
Thanks Sunnie! I’ve never been to a Tuesday Morning but next time I see one.. I’m going to the kitchen section! 🙂
yummychunklet says
Quick and delicious little dessert!
Pamela says
A perfect combo!
Nora @ Buttercream Fanatic says
Love this idea! I find it very dangerous to make full batches of things with the intention of “freezing the rest and eating them slowly” because, let’s face it, that never happens.
Pamela says
I always tell myself I’m going to do that too.. but it never happens! 🙂
Davida @ The Healthy Maven says
This looks so yummy!!! Any idea on a GF sub? I’m thinking brown rice flour?
Pamela says
Hey Davida, I would definitely try the brown rice flour… please let me know! 🙂
Nik@ABrownTable says

I love easy brownies! 🙂
Reba - Not So Perfect Life says
I love this!!!! My boyfriend doesn’t love sweets (I just can’t understand it) so when I bake I end up eating everything. I am going to make this asap!
Pamela says
I can’t understand your boyfriend either! 😉 Enjoy Reba!
Dan from Platter Talk says
Awesome post!! Now if I can just limit myself to a single serving of something this tempting, I should be set. Great job!
Pamela says
Hahaha, that’s the hardest part isn’t it? 😉
Juliana says
My husband love brownie…I will make this for him…and even nicer…only 100 calories…this way we can have a couple of servings.
Have a great weekend Pamela 😀
Pamela says
I hear you on the couple of servings. 😉 Have a good one Juliana!
Kelly @ hidden fruits and veggies says
Normally when I make brownies: I binge eat 4, Josh eats a sensible 1 – 2, and my coworkers get the leftovers. Love this recipe, but I think my coworkers might get sad about no leftovers 😉
Pamela says
Well ok, how about you make a batch of brownies + these single serving ones? So basically I just suggested making more brownies! 🙂
Ash-foodfashionparty says
Thank you thank you for a healthy one…I so need this one..
I hear ya, I hoard on chocolate too, every variety possible..
Pamela says
I hear you! I think we should create a chocolate hoarders club! 🙂
Velva says
A fun and easy way to hit the chocolate spot. Love it! Thanks for sharing.

Pamela says
Enjoy Velva!
Jaclyn says
I love single serving desserts like this. That’s so funny you discovered you’re hoarding cocoa powder…I make similar discoveries in my own kitchen on occasion.
Pamela says
Don’t get me started by the amount of beans I have Jaclyn! 😉
Shashi @ http://runninsrilankan.com says
I understand your dilemma – 2 people and a whole batch of brownies is not safe!
These are fantastic! Thanks for sharing – love the use of applesauce!
Pamela says
I know, right? It’s a total dangerous (delicious) situation! 🙂
Stephanie says
So smart! Love that it uses applesauce.
I totally hoard baking supplies. I once opened a packing box that I had failed to unpack after moving six month ago, and it was full of various chocolate chips, and bags of marshmallows. An entire packing box.. just like a normal person would have.
Pamela says
A entire packing box of baking supplies sounds like an amazing present of joy!
tracy {pale yellow} says
I think have about 8 jars of cocoa powder because I hoard different brands looking for the darkest, deepest chocolate flavor, I understand your dilemma! I’ve also changed jobs and went from working with about 100 people to 5. I can no longer bake for a crowding knowing everything will get eaten, I need to think about portion, these brownies look perfect!
Pamela says
I know what you mean, but at least we can say we have great selection of cocoa powder when the time calls to be very proud of that! 🙂 This single serving brownies definitely help with the portion issue, it’s always been a problem here… I’ve started doing a weekly Thursday/Friday event where I make a sweet for friends to share at our work space. This makes sure I don’t eat any (ok totally lying – I eat one, I have to try it.. to make sure it doesn’t poison anyone of course).
Kayle (The Cooking Actress) says
Ooooh!!! Awesome idea-and they look SO yummehhhh!
Pamela says
Thanks Kayle! They do the trick for my chocolate craving!
Kristi @ lifesprinkles says
Perfect! I may need to make one of these tomorrow night after work 😉
Pamela says
Enjoy Kristi!
Laura @ Lauras Baking Talent says
Jim and I have the same two person issue, except ginny dog sometimes decides she can eat chocolate which never goes well for anyone 🙂
Pamela says
Hahaha.. Ginny… she has good taste at least! 😉
Anne [A Squared] says
I’m in love with these ramekins– so cute!!
Pamela says
Thanks! 🙂
Jersey Girl Cooks says
This is a great idea. I am going to try and make powdered sugar myself too. Happy weekend!
Pamela says
It’s so easy to make, I can’t believe it took me this long to find out!
Madison says
YAY! I love mug cakes/quick microwave cakes…especially when a chocolate craving hits. This looks fabulous and those ingredients are always in my pantry/fridge!
Pamela says
Total win all around Madison! Quick and yummy!
Ashley says
I love this – we have the same problem in our house. It’s just me and my husband so I always end up trying to give all our extras away to co-workers so I don’t eat it all! But making a single serving brownie sounds like a good plan for dessert cravings! They tend to hit more often than I’d like : )
Pamela says
Absolutely! Even with dessert if there’s say 4 brownies left in the pan.. well we might as well finish them off. That’s my horrible train of thought.. instead of eating 1.. you might as well finish them so you can be healthy again tomorrow. But that doesn’t happen because then fudge is made the day after. But these single serving brownies really help! 🙂
cquek says
Great combination of ingredients!
Pamela says
Thanks!
Emma @ Fork and Good says
uh… I had no idea how easy making powdered sugar (or icing sugar as it’s weirdly known here) was so easy! These look great too, single serve brownies.. great idea!
Pamela says
I know Emma! Me either! I told my husband about this and he didn’t seem very excited so I’m glad you are! 🙂
Amy Tong says
I seldom count my calories intake at all! Especially when it comes to desserts (cos I think most of them the numbers are so high that I would feel guilty consuming!)
Definitely love you 100 Calorie Single Serving Brownie! Can’t wait to give this a try. and I really love how simple this is to prepare.
Pamela says
I know what you mean. Yesterday I had lunch at Coney Island and I tried not to look at the calorie board staring at me, but I did after I had lunch.. and then I sighed. But my goodness those cheese fries were delicious! 😉
[email protected] says
Isn’t brownie a a lifesaver when it comes to finishing chocolate? 100-calorie brownies sound pretty good! That looks like a lovely and simple recipe, I love how you made it vegan, too with the addition of apple sauce. Well done, *P*! Now I must devour them all…. and genius, I wish I have a microwave here in Spain. Here in Europe, no one uses microwaves, ever.
Pamela says
We were lucky enough when we rented a place out in London for a few weeks they had a microwave! I don’t know how I would have survived without one! 😉 These are a favorite brownie treat in our home. 🙂 Have a great day Rika!
Alyaa says
You can do it with an oven too, you just have to preheat the oven first and put it in the oven after turning it off so it would take around 15 minutes to be done or perhaps a few minutes more. Enjoy !
Pamela says
Thanks for the tip Alyaa! Now if only I had the patience when craving a brownie! 🙂
Milk and Honey says
Genius. Single-Serve Brownies – I can see myself making these – lots ’em… even if it defeats the purpose.
Pamela says
Hahaha, I know what you mean. 😉
