100 Calorie Brownie

I’m obsessed with this 100 Calorie Single Serving Brownie! If you’re like me then when you make a batch of brownies you need to eat them all. Leave no brownie behind is my dessert motto! Remember these black bean brownies? Yeah, I would eat them all if they were in my kitchen!

Here’s a quick video I made to show you how easy it is to make this single serving brownie!

Single Serving Brownie Recipe

So what do you do when you want a brownie but you don’t want to make an entire batch to prevent the guilt? You make a single serving 100 calorie brownie!

You’re going to love these brownies because not only are they low calorie, but they only take 1 minute in the microwave. That’s right, you don’t have to wait 20 minutes for them to bake in the oven!

If you want to make your brownie slightly more creamy, then add a teaspoon of Nutella. Yes the calories will go up a bit, but it’s still much healthier than the usual brownie.

How to Make a Single Serving Brownie

Mix your dry ingredients (flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda and salt) in a small bowl or a mug.

flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda and salt in white bowl

Add 2 tablespoons of applesauce, no oil is needed for this recipe. I recommend my homemade applesauce recipe if you want to try to make apple sauce at home sometime.  Yum!

2 tablespoons applesauce going into white bowl.

Then mix all the ingredients up.

Cook the brownie in the microwave for 1 minute. Remove from the microwave and marvel at your beautiful brownie for one! Don’t you love how simple it was to make?

Serve as is or add some sprinkles or powdered sugar on top. I always add rainbow sprinkles because like my daughter says “Sprinkles make everything better!”.

Did you know it’s super easy to make homemade powdered sugar? For 1 cup of powdered confectioners sugar blend together 1 cup regular sugar + 1 tablespoon cornstarch until it’s powdery.  Store in a mason jar in your cabinet.

Can you freeze brownies?

Absolutely.  If you want to make a few of these to keep on hand, make as instructed in the recipe and then pop them into freezer bags!  When you want to eat one,  heat the frozen brownie in the microwave for about 15 seconds.

Super delicious! My inner fat butt wants to go make like 10 of these and eat them all! Yum-hit the spot and keeps me on track with my 1200 calorie diet!
Not gonna lie I was scared to microwave it but I figure if I burn it I’ll try again.

This was actually delicious and just as easy as it sounds. Perfect for a chocolate lover with me with no self control- a perfect portion size.

This was amazing! I was skeptical as other ‘healthy’ dessert recipes I’ve recently tried were awful but this was so good, tempted to buy Nutella just so I can try that too

I made this with a few changes. I used monkfruit instead of sugar and added 2 tbsp whipped cream on top, came out under 100 calories! Love this recipe so much! Also only microwaved for 50 seconds so it was ultra fudgy!

Great texture and taste and satisfying. I replaced the sugar with monk fruit erythritol sweetener to lower the calories (and WW points). Still tasted great.

This is definitely the best mug cake recipe I have EVER followed!!! It is the perfect amount to satisfy a sweet craving without being too caloric. It also did not make a big mess or require too many ingredients. I cooked mine for only 30 seconds because I know my microwave burns things quickly. I also added a piece of dark chocolate on top. Delicious and under 150 calories!!!

I didn’t have apple sauce so substituted with mashed banana, delicious!
My only criticism is that there’s no way this recipe works out to 100kcal, using my fitbit food database I’m getting 158kcal for ingredients specified, and 218kcal with banana instead of apple sauce.

Hi Noni, 1 tablespoon flour – 28 calories, 1 tablespoon sugar – 45 calories, 1 tablespoon cocoa powder – 12 calories, 2 tablespoons applesauce (unsweetened)- 13 calories. Equals 99 calories to be exact with my kitchen ingredients.

Loved this! Just the right amount of dessert. Also, I found that cooking mine for 50 seconds was the perfect consistency!

So I was skeptical this wouldn’t work out, the mug brownies I’ve usually tried always end up burnt by the time they reach the 45 second mark.

But this worked perfectly! I added the Nutella like you said and it was delicious! I love how there’s a hint of apples from the applesauce. It had a dark chocolate kind of vibe too, which I’m a fan of.

The perfect solution to a sweet tooth! Thanks for sharing!

I added a pinch of cayenne and a pinch of cinnamon. I bet cloves would be a good add-in too. Very good, semi-guilt-free dessert, no matter how you make it.

Using gluten free 1:1 flour (bobs red mill is really good) it turns out awesome!
