1 Pint Blueberry Jam

Is it possible to write about jam without constantly hearing this song play in your head? We’re jammin’, I wanna jam it wid you. We’re jammin’, jammin’, And I hope you like blueberry jammin’, too.

Blueberry jam reminds me of my childhood.  Not because my mother made homemade jam, actually I don’t think she’s ever  made homemade jam in her life.  It reminds me of a donut that Dunkin Donuts Mister Donuts had called “The Blueberry Bismark”.   I searched for this and Google basically told me it does not exist but they lie because trust me I had a few too many Blueberry Mismarks as a kid to forget this great treat.  The donut had a creamy sweet vanilla icing which was super soft and it was filled with blueberry jam.  I knew I was a good girl when Mom brought me home a Blueberry Bismark.  I wish that was how life was today.  Oh I cleaned my bedroom, is somebody going to bring me home a donut?  Please, bring me a home a donut.

I was wanting some blueberry jam but I didn’t want to make a big batch of it, in fact I wanted to make jam with just 1 pint of blueberries.  I had this one pint of blueberries staring at me in the eyes for the past week and I was seeing jam.  Jam it was! We jammin.. We jammin (sorry, I can’t help it).    This jam recipe is great because it’s quick, it’s easy, and it makes 4 oz of blueberry jam which is a perfect amount.  How do I use my blueberry jam?  On toast, on muffins, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches!   I would recommend it over ice cream too.  Actually I would recommend you just eat it with a spoon out of the jar because it’s that good but I’m a horrible influence.

Thank you for the tiny batch recipe! My daughter loves everything blueberry. How long would it last in the fridge?

    • Pamela

Hi Jamie! I would easily say 3-4 weeks, if not longer. I’ve only gotten to a few weeks because it’s usually all gone before then!

  2. Kelly

Blueberry jam is my favorite! I love that you made a smaller batch, sometimes that’s all you need:) Your jam looks so pretty and good. I could definitely go for a few slices of toast with this:) Thanks for sharing and enjoy your day!

    • Pamela

Thanks Kelly! I hope you have a great day too!

  3. Amy @ Elephant Eats

What a yummy way to use up those blueberries! And it’s great that it only made a little bit because then you don’t have to deal with canning it since it’ll get eaten in no time. I haven’t had toast and jam in a while and now i want some…

    • Pamela

Thanks Amy! I love the small batches of jam because it’s used up quickly. I’ll be having some toast shortly.. :)

Are you sure it wasn’t Mister Donut? Because it used to be Kentucky Fried Chicken and Mister Donut and then they demolished both buildings and rebuilt them as KFC and Dunkin’. There’s not a lot about Mister Donut on the Internet.

  5. Jeanette

Love how easy this fresh blueberry jam is to make. I’ve made blueberry compote which isn’t as thick as your gorgeous looking jam.

    • Pamela

Thanks Jeanette! I love a easy to make jam!

  6. Emma @ Fork and Good

It’s funny, because every time I make jam I sing bob marley too! Love it, I have no idea what mister donuts is, but it’s made me hungry…. Brilliant jam, really rich, I want!

    • Pamela

Hahaha, I still can’t get the song out of my head! Mister Donuts is a donut chain, I don’t think it’s as popular anymore sadly. :(

  7. Dan from Platter Talk

Thank you!! This is exactly what I have been looking for. So basic and simple and yet entirely divine. Looking forward to spreading this on my toast!

  8. Rachel @ Bakerita

This looks ridiculously good! Making ASAP. Need to get some blueberries!

    • Pamela

I hope you like it Rachel! Enjoy!

  9. There are so many things I like about this. Last year I tried to make a HUGE batch of naturally sweetened jam, and A. it wasn’t very good B. made way too much for 2 people. I’m glad this uses honey and not a big ol pile of white sugar. Now I just need to fall in love with blueberries and we’re set :) Would this work with other fruit?

    • Pamela

I also make this jam with strawberries and raspberries and it works great! I would just keep a eye on time and stirring frequently (to prevent burning) as I find strawberry jam takes a shorter amount of time to thicken. Let me know if you try it Kelly! :)

I love homemade jam! I would have never though of pairing blueberry and cinnamon together but it sounds yummy! I bet it’s wonderful too if you baked with it. :) Thanks for this recipe Pamela!

    • Pamela

MMMM, I bet it would be. I’d love to make some jam squares with this! Thanks for stopping by Anne!

  19. Katie

I love the boney and cinnamon in this recipe. And the small batch size. I tend to overdo jams when i make them. Go big or go home. I once made 23 pounds of strawberry jam with a friend. I couldn’t give it away fast enough. It was SO good, but there’s only so much i can eat. Today I made just 3 half-pintjars of freezer jam. That’s enough for me for a long time. Yet, still more strawberries to use…

Mister Donut! Now that is a blast from the past. I used to hang out there with friends on Friday and Saturday nights, eating the day-old donut holes, drinking coffee until 2 am…until they closed and it became a Tobacco Outlet. We used to get donuts there every Sunday though. I loved the Triple Chocolate.

    • Pamela

23 pounds! You be jammin girl, hard!

Mister Donuts holds a special place in my heart. <3

  24. ashley - baker by nature

My mom makes the best blueberry jam… but she lives so far away I rarely get it anymore :( Time to make it myself!

    • Pamela

:( I hope this does the trick for you!

  25. Balvinder

Blueberries are one of my husband’s favorite berry fruit and he only eats blueberry jam if he has to. Even I would go for small batches of different jams rather than several bottles of same jam. Thank you for stopping by and I am glad you did as I have found your site now.

    • Pamela

Right now I have 3 small batches of strawberry, blueberry and raspberry in my fridge, that way I can pick and choose and none of it is going to go bad. :) Thanks for stopping by!

  26. Sophie33
