Here’s what vegetable seeds we planted for our NYC garden (Zone 7B). Seeds are planted in February and plants move outside in March and April.

Spring Garden – Zone 7B

Even though we had a little bit of snow on the ground a couple of days ago it’s time to start thinking about our Spring garden! Let the girls tell you what we’re growing this year:

Spring Plants We’re Growing

This year we will be growing:

  • broccoli (36 plants)
  • cabbage (36 plants)
  • kale (12 plants)
  • celery (24 plants)
  • brussels sprouts (18 plants)
  • onions
  • carrots
  • sugar snap peas

Btw, do we really need 24 celery plants ? Yes, yes we really do. Hahahaha.

Spring Garden Calendar for NYC

Broccoli, Cabbage, Kale, Celery and Brussels Sprouts seeds were planted inside on February 11. They will move outside sometime in early April. During the next few weeks they will continue to grow under our grow lights, with the help of a heat mat and a fan on them to help grow strong.

Here’s how the seeds we planted are looking a couple of weeks later:

The onions, carrots and sugar snap peas will be planted directly outside in early April.

Btw, here’s our seed calendar that I keep updated with all of our planting dates over the past years.

Come back soon for seeing the seedlings in the ground! Happy Spring Gardening!
