Easy to make Macaroni and Cheese with Sugar Snap Peas cooked in the slow cooker. It’s the perfect combo of creamy and crunchy!

Crockpot Mac and Cheese with Peas

Because sugar snap peas are a garden favorite, I wanted to incorporate them into one of my favorite dishes, macaroni and cheese.

Most people don’t turn to their slow cooker when it comes to mac and cheese (you need to try my Crockpot Mac And Cheese With Velveeta), but I’m here to tell you it makes a delicious creamy comfort food.    By slow cooking it, the noodles are going to soak up all that cheesy goodness, and the cheese on top is going to get a little crisp.  Don’t you love the crisp pieces? Me too.  I will fight my family for them!

How to Make Mac and Cheese in Slow Cooker

Spray the inside of the slow cooker. It’s important to do this to prevent the noodles from sticking.

Pour milk and egg into the slow cooker, whisking to mix.

Add UNCOOKED noodles, shredded cheese, salt & pepper and dry mustard into the slow cooker, mixing to completely stir.

Sprinkle a little more cheese on top – this will make the crispy cheese.

Cook. With a little bit of time left, add the sugar snap peas. Cook a little bit more.

Time to eat – enjoy!

Recipe Tweaks

Can I use frozen peas instead of fresh peas? You sure can. Add 2 cups of frozen peas into the slow cooker, the same time you’d add the fresh ones.

Can I use elbow noodles instead? Yes you can.

So go ahead and try this Slow Cooker Macaroni and Cheese With Sugar Snap Peas recipe. I’ll see you on the cheesy side!

Great textures in the comfort food mac and cheese a little crunchy with the creamy is a good thing and maybe we can get kids and hubbys to eat their veggies. Your snow peas in your garden are so big, wow! I had no idea that snow peas and their vines got so tall

Spring colors—yellow and bright green—-and winter comfort food. Wonderful combination. I too am already thinking about spring. I made a bit of an arrangement on my deck with a large pot and a couple of smaller ones and planted primroses and a Xmas rose. Just so I could see some flower power out my slider. I sleep with my two dogs and one of my cats, so I understand animal warmth—-both the body heat and the warmth from the heart. Mac and cheese is one of my old time favorite dishes. So this works for me.

I’ve only been to NYC once and that was last June. The weather was so hot and warm I just can’t imagine it being the polar opposite. We have been hearing about the snow falls in NYC and people have been saying one coat just isn’t enough. I do hope you’re surviving the harsh conditions. The mac & cheese is a very warming and comforting meal for your big-freeze. I made mac & cheese last night as my little guy loves it – excellent carb loading after his swim squad xx

I haven’t attempted to make mac & cheese in the slow cooker yet. I’ve heard it expands quite a bit and for some reason I find that intimidating. I’ll have to give it a whirl. I love the idea of adding snap peas!

I’ve never made macaroni in a slow cooker before, but this looks too good to pass up. I’ve got some sugar snap peas from last year’s garden that are just dying to be used in this dish. Thanks so much for the delicious recipe! I look forward to more yummy recipes!

Oh man this looks good, and love the photos too! Oh gosh so cold here, I have been wearing 2 coats too. I made the mistake of buying a short parker so I have to wear an over-sized alpaca wrap coat I borrowed from my mom over it. Ugh.

Love the crispy bits. Is there a way to just make an entire pan of just the crispy bits? I love the fresh green of the peas.

I recommend growing corn and putting that in the slow cooker with your macaroni and cheese. You will be so happy you did. 🙂

I love the crispy bits of mac and cheese, too — THE BEST. I love using my slowcooker in the winter, especially as a means to keep warm. Somehow it perfectly heats up the kitchen more than using the stove or oven. Maybe because I can get in, out, and back under my blankets in record time.
