What’s Growing in NYC August 2023 Garden Update

By: Pamela Reed

It’s August! That means everything is in full growing mode!

We’re picking tomatoes by the basket (to make roma tomato sauce and instant pot cherry tomato chicken tacos of course), we’re pickling cucumbers (half sours, of course), we’re eating shishitos (my lunch my everyday) and edamame (the girls afternoon snack everyday) and we’re buttering up corn and loving every bite!

What I’m trying to say is I LOVE THE GARDEN IN AUGUST!

Btw, check out last month’s update so you can see how much everything has grown!

Hope you like our little garden tour! Please tell me in the comments what you’re growing – I always love hearing about it!  Follow me on Instagram where I post garden updates all the time!

Gosh, Pamโ€ฆ even though I donโ€™t comment any longer I still read all your email recipes. I hit 80 yrs. old in July, so definitely slowing down. Getting ready to sell house & go to senior housingโ€ฆ where NO GARDENING allowed ๐Ÿ˜ . My body, soul & mind is still on โ€œautopilotโ€ in the spring. Last year I swore I was planting nothing in 2023. HA! Did manage to plant 4 cucumber seeds, 3 tomato plants (cherry, heirloom, & paste) & 3 pepper plants along with various herbs in pots & lettuce in a planter. Still think back to when I โ€œdiscovered youโ€ on the rooftop & followed you & hubby & all your work (pre babies) when you bought your upstate N.Y. farm property- – > & then back to the big city ๐Ÿฅฐ. Also, remember the computer help you gave me ALL those years ago! You have been one of the gifts in my life! ๐Ÿ’
