Easy steps on how to cook sausage in the oven. In just 30 minutes you’ll have delicious oven baked sausage for dinner. This works for all sausage links and patties!

Can you cook sausage in the oven?
Yes! Cooking sausage in the oven is truly my favorite way—and honestly, the easiest. Most sausage packages don’t include oven directions, even though baked sausage is one of my family’s go-to meals.
I recommend cooking sausages at 400 degrees for about 30 minutes, or until they reach an internal temperature of 165°F using a meat thermometer. This gives you fully cooked sausages with a lightly crisp, browned outside that’s just perfect. All you need is a baking sheet, parchment paper, and your favorite sausage.
In our house, sausage night usually means a full sheet-pan dinner with juicy sausages, my favorite no-peel mashed potatoes, and juicy crockpot mushrooms—one of my family’s absolute favorite meals.
Step by Step Directions to Cook Sausage In The Oven
Grab your sausage for this recipe. 1 pound, 2 pound, 5 pounds, it doesn’t matter. Use whatever your favorite sausage is, for us it’s Sweet Italian Sausage. This also works for breakfast sausage patties or any type of sausage links.
Place parchment paper down on a baking sheet. This allows for easier cleanup.
Add sausage on top of parchment paper, single layer so they don’t touch.
Cook at 400 degrees, for 30 minutes, turning the sausage halfway through. This will give the sausage those beautiful brown cooking marks on it.
And just like that you have a whole plate of sausages to eat for dinner! Wasn’t that SO easy?

How to Cook Frozen Sausage
If your sausage is frozen you can still cook them as instructed on the page, but add a additional 15-20 minutes to cook them.
Turn It Into a Full Sheet Pan Meal with Roasted Veggies
It’s easy to turn oven-baked sausage into a complete sheet pan dinner. Just add your favorite veggies — think potatoes, carrots, peppers, onions, broccoli, or Brussels sprouts. Toss the veggies with a little olive oil, salt, pepper, and any seasonings you love, then spread them around the sausages on the same pan.
Everything cooks together at 400°F for about 30 minutes, depending on the veggies. Potatoes and carrots may need a few extra minutes, while peppers and onions roast quickly. The sausage gets juicy, the veggies caramelize, and dinner is done on one pan — my kind of easy weeknight meal.
