Fluffy Chocolate Chip Muffins Recipe

These fluffy chocolate chip muffins are incredibly easy to make and a must-try for anyone who loves chewy chocolate chip cookies. Packed with a generous amount of chocolate chips, each bite is filled with that irresistible chocolate flavor. This chocolate chip muffin recipe is our favorite because it yields moist, light, and fluffy muffins that taste just like a chocolate chip cookie—only in muffin form!

Tip for super soft muffins! Be sure not to overmix your muffin batter or it will smooth out the pockets of air bubbles that help create the moisture in your muffins!

These homemade chocolate chip muffins are so delicious, they taste like they came straight from the bakery—but better because they’re made right at home! Enjoy one with your morning coffee, serve them as a quick school breakfast idea, or treat yourself to them for dessert. For my chocolate lovers, you’ll also love our Chocolate Chip Scones and for a warm, comforting treat, try Bread Machine Chocolate Chip Bread.

Ingredients to Make Moist Chocolate Chip Muffins

  • All-purpose flour, provides the structure for the muffins, ensuring they hold together while maintaining a soft and fluffy texture.
  • Sugar, adds sweetness and helps create a soft, tender crumb.
  • Brown sugar, brings moisture and a subtle caramel flavor, enhancing the overall sweetness and texture.
  • Baking powder, acts as the leavening agent, helping the muffins rise and become light and airy.
  • Salt, balances the sweetness and enhances the flavors of the other ingredients, making the chocolate taste richer.
  • Milk, hydrates the dry ingredients, contributing to a moist texture. You can use dairy milk or vanilla almond milk for different flavors.
  • Butter (melted), adds richness and flavor, helping to create a soft and tender muffin crumb.
  • Eggs (beaten), bind the ingredients together and help the muffins rise, giving them a fluffy, tender texture.
  • Vanilla, adds warmth and depth of flavor, complementing the chocolate chips.
  • Lemon juice, brightens the flavor of the muffins and enhances the leavening effect of the baking powder.
  • Vegetable oil, adds moisture and ensures the muffins remain soft and tender for longer.
  • Chocolate chips, provide the signature chocolate flavor! You can use bittersweet, milk, dark chocolate, or even try peanut butter chips or nuts for variety.

How to Make Fluffy Chocolate Chip Muffins

Preheat the oven and spray a muffin pan with nonstick spray. This recipe makes 12 muffins.

In a large mixing bowl, mix together the dry ingredients.

In another bowl, mix the wet ingredients.

Combine milk mixture with the dry ingredients and mix well.

Storing Leftover Muffins

The best way to store chocolate chip muffins is to keep them in an airtight container at room temperature. They’ll stay fresh for about 2-3 days this way.

If you need to keep them longer, you can freeze them! Just wrap each muffin individually in plastic wrap or aluminum foil and store them in a freezer-safe bag or container. When you’re ready to enjoy, simply thaw them at room temperature or heat them in the microwave for a few seconds to warm them up.

I actually think these are the most perfect- looking muffins I have ever seen. Such a pet-peeve when bloggers call their recipes “fluffy” (and all other adjectives) when they clearly aren’t. Not at all the case with these!!

Those muffins definitely are on the fluffy side! One can never have too many muffins. Good to rotate, though, from muffins, to donuts, to cookies. After all, one wants a balanced diet, yes? Fun post, good recipe — thanks.
