The Best Chocolate Milkshake Recipe

This is our go to “let loose, it’s the weekend” favorite milkshake recipe. It’s chocolaty, it’s creamy, it has a pinch of salt, ooooh it’s just perfect! My family declares it the best chocolate milkshake, so you’ll have to try it for yourself!

And did I mention it’s SO easy to make? Throw everything into the blender and boom – milkshake time!

4 Simple Milkshake Ingredients

All you need is chocolate ice cream, milk, chocolate syrup (I use Hershey’s) and salt. To make it you’ll need a blender. That’s it!

But wait… what if you only have vanilla ice cream…..

Can I use vanilla ice cream for a chocolate milkshake?

Yes! And it still tastes delicious. Follow the recipe as instructed using vanilla ice cream. The chocolate syrup is what is going to flavor it chocolate, so make sure not to skip it!

How to Make a Milkshake

Throw all the ingredients into your blender and blend until creamy, making sure not to over blend.

Personally I like to pulse my blender a couple of times to make the perfect consistency – not too soft, not too hard. I like a milkshake that I can drink with a straw, or use a spoon, so a couple pulses usually does the job.

Now pour the mixture into 2 cups and enjoy your milkshakes!

Do I need to add ice to my milkshake?

No, don’t add ice or it’ll turn watery. You’re already using frozen ice cream and cold milk so you don’t need ice to chill it up.

What can I add on top of a milkshake?

If you want to take this milkshake to the next level, add some whipped cream, hot fudge, additional chocolate syrup, cookies, macarons or sprinkles on top for a super rich milkshake!
