Easy Apple Juice Recipe

If you’ve ever wished you could bottle up the crisp, sweet taste of fall, this easy 1-ingredient apple juice is for you! Made with just fresh apples — no added sugar, no preservatives — this homemade juice is bursting with pure apple flavor. It’s so simple to make that once you try it, you’ll wonder why you ever bought store-bought! Whether you’re just sick of buying store bought apple juice or looking for a way to use up a big apple harvest, this fresh apple juice recipe is the answer.

Love easy apple recipes? After you make this fresh apple juice, be sure to try my baked apple chips, cozy crockpot applesauce and apple pie cookies.

All you need is one ingredient and a few minutes to enjoy the freshest, most delicious apple juice you’ve ever tasted. Grab your apples and get ready to sip on pure happiness — it’s seriously that good!

How to Make Apple Juice with a Juicer!  Easy step by step instructions on how to make fresh, healthy apple juice.   Save this recipe for when you go apple picking!  Also includes how to freeze juice!

You Need a Juicer

With my juicer, I have fresh apple juice in minutes — and honestly, juicing has completely changed my life. The ingredient list for this recipe? Just one: apples. No added sugar, no honey, no water, no spices. Just pure, crisp apples.

If you don’t have a juicer yet, seriously — pause everything and grab one. It’s one of the best kitchen investments you’ll ever make. This is the juicer I use and love — it’s a powerhouse for apples, oranges, leafy greens, you name it. Fresh juice tastes wildly better than anything you’ll find in a bottle. And once you start making your own, you won’t be able to stop. (Apple and spinach juice? Total game changer — I’m obsessed.)

Anyways, you should get a juicer.  If I was Oprah I would yell at you all  “YOU’RE GETTING A JUICER! YOU’RE GETTING A JUICER! YOU’RE GETTING A JUICER!” but I’m not Oprah, so I’m sorry.

Best Apples to Juice

When it comes to making the best homemade apple juice, I love using Red Delicious, Gala, and Fuji apples. These varieties are naturally sweet, juicy, and packed with flavor, which means you don’t need to add any extra sugar — the apples do all the work! Red Delicious brings a mild, classic apple taste, Gala adds a floral sweetness, and Fuji is extra crisp and honey-sweet.

How to Make Apple Juice

Gather your apples and wash them.

Depending on the size of your juicer you might have to cut your apples in half.

You don’t have to remove apple seeds before juicing — but I recommend it if you can, especially for larger batches. Apple seeds contain a small amount of amygdalin, which can release cyanide when crushed. In tiny amounts (like from a few apples), it’s usually not dangerous, but if you’re juicing a lot of apples, it’s a good idea to core them first just to be safe and avoid any bitterness they might add.

apples cut in half

A few apples go in and the cup stars to fill up.  You’ll see foam on top of the juice. Foam comes out of a juicer because the high-speed spinning introduces air into the juice, creating bubbles as it extracts liquid from the fruit.

A few minutes later, a entire pitcher of apple juice was made!  Grab a glass and enjoy! It’s seriously that easy

How to Freeze Apple Juice

Yes, you can absolutely freeze apple juice — and it’s a great way to enjoy fresh apple flavor long after apple season ends! If you go apple picking and find yourself with pounds of extra apples, this easy recipe is perfect for using them up.

To freeze, simply pour the juice into freezer-safe containers or freezer bags, leaving a little space for expansion. When you’re ready to enjoy it, thaw the juice in the refrigerator, give it a good stir (since it might look a little cloudier after freezing), and sip away. The flavor stays wonderfully fresh and delicious!

Simple recipes are the best – this juice looks delicious! I used to drink apple juice all the time until that huge thing came out about the arsenic in apple juice. I suppose if you remove the seeds, you don’t get that in your juice.
Fresh juice looks so much better, too! It looks more like natural apple cider than the juice I used to buy in the store. I love it!

Hey Pamela. What’s the apples-in-to-juice-out ratio? Like 5 apples = 8 oz of juice? Or 100 g of apples = 300 mL of juice, if we want to talk mass and metric?

    • Pamela says

      September 26, 2013 at 2:58 pm

Hi Mike, unfortunately I don’t know exact stats as it depends on the type of apples and your juicer, but it took me all the apples in the picture to make 64 oz of juice. I usually find that 2-3 apples makes for a good single serving glass. 1 large bag of store bought apples should give you about 1 liter. It takes a good bit of apples to make fresh juice, but definitely worth it. Hope this helps some!

I appreciate it! I know homemade always beats store-bought, but I was hoping to determine if it was at all economical to juice the apples myself versus buying pre-juiced apple cider.
