Make easy salted edamame at home in minutes! This quick, salty snack tastes just like restaurant edamame and uses only edamame pods, water, and sea salt. Perfect for snacking or serving with dinner.

Easy Edamame Snack Recipe

If you need a quick, salty snack that tastes like it came straight from your favorite sushi restaurant, this Easy Salted Edamame is it. It cooks in minutes, requires almost zero effort, and always disappears the second I set it on the table. Edamame is one of my kids absolute favorites, and we often serve a bowl of it alongside our favorite dumpling soup for an easy family meal and I even pack it in their lunchboxes because they love it cold just as much as warm.

Whether I’m picking fresh pods from our container garden or grabbing a frozen bag from the freezer, edamame is the perfect pop-and-eat snack. Just boil, drain, salt, and snack—truly that simple. No fancy ingredients, no special equipment… just perfectly cooked soybeans with the right amount of crunch and sea-salt goodness. Fair warning: once you start, you won’t stop. And if you need more fresh soybean recipes, stay tuned—I’m always experimenting with new ways to enjoy them!

How to Make Perfect Salted Edamame

Bring a large pot of water to a rapid boil. Make sure there’s enough water to fully submerge the edamame pods.

Add the edamame and boil for about 5 minutes. The pods should turn a bright green color and feel tender but still firm when squeezed.

Drain well. Shake off any excess water so the salt sticks.

Season generously. Sprinkle sea salt over the hot edamame and toss to coat. Add more salt if you like a stronger flavor.

Serve warm. To eat, squeeze the beans out of the pod with your teeth and discard the shells.

How to Eat Edamame

Edamame pods aren’t meant to be eaten! To enjoy them, place a pod between your teeth and gently squeeze or pull the beans out. The salty seasoning on the outside gives the beans extra flavor as you pop them out. Discard the empty pods (compost them!).
