4 Hour Crockpot Sweet and Sour Kielbasa
My family absolutely loves this sweet and sour kielbasa recipe! Simply make the sweet and sour sauce in a saucepan, pour it over the kielbasa in the crockpot, close the lid and let the crockpot do it’s magic!
In just 4 hours, you will have saucy sweet and sour kielbasa, ready to be served over white rice for a complete meal. My kids love the tangy sweet sauce, so they are always asking for more kielbasa once their plates are empty!

How long does it take in the crockpot?
This kielbasa takes 4 hours in the crockpot on LOW. When there’s about 30 minutes left in the crockpot, I cook rice in our rice cooker so they’re done at the same time.
Ingredients
- Kielbasa – We make this recipe with 2 links, but there’s enough sauce for up to 3 pounds of kielbasa, so add more if you’d like!
- Butter
- Onions – sliced
- Ketchup – we always use Heinz
- Brown sugar
- Spicy brown mustard
- Soy sauce
- Chocolate cocoa powder – this balances all the flavors out so it’s not too sweet or too spicy.
How to Make Sweet and Sour Kielbasa in the Slow Cooker
Melt butter in a large saucepan, and then add onions, cooking until they are softened.
Time to make the sweet and sour sauce! Stir in brown sugar, ketchup, spicy brown mustard, soy sauce and a dash of cocoa powder.
Add kielbasa pieces into the crockpot.
Pour sweet and sour sauce and onions on top of the kielbasa.
Close the lid and cook. When 4 hours is up, serve and enjoy this yummy meal!
How to Serve
Serve this sweet and sour kielbasa over jasmine rice (our favorite way) or noodles as a main course. It can also be served as a side dish or appetizer.
Storing Leftovers and Freezing
Store leftovers in the refrigerator in an airtight container for 4-5 days.
This kielbasa freezes amazing! Sometimes I make it just to freeze it for a quick freezer meal. Allow it to cool down and then place in a freezer bag. Freeze up to 3 months.
When ready to serve, I defrost in the microwave and then heat up on the stove top.

The ingredients list doesn’t say how much of each to add. I went to print it to take the list of ingredients to the store and it was 20 pages double sided. This isn’t user friendly for those of us who are not tech savvy or experienced in the kitchen.

Hey Michael, the recipe card has the exact measurements. Also if you click “print” in the recipe card it, it prints out on one clean sheet. I would make sure you don’t have any add-ons on your browser that is causing this, as the Brooklyn Farm Girl site isn’t causing this. Hope this helps.
