Chocolate Cake In a Mug

I made this Chocolate Cake In a Mug for Lunch yesterday.   I know, the things I do for you guys.

Chocolat-Cake-In-a-Mug

Even though this is made in a few quick minutes in the microwave, it still is so chocolaty and rich.  It definitely tastes like warm chocolate cake that will treat your sweet tooth.   I also love this recipe because it’s individual servings. If you’re in the mood for chocolate cake but don’t want to feel the guilt of eating a entire cake (real talk) then this will totally do the trick.   I totally think this would be adorable for serving multiple friends their own mugs, or even making one mug with 2 forks to share with a friend.

And how does it do when you tip it out of the mug? Beautifully…..

Chocolate Cake In a Mug

By: Pamela Reed

Ingredients

  • 4 dessertspoons flour
  • 4 dessertspoons sugar
  • 2 dessertspoons cocoa
  • 1 small egg beaten
  • 3 dessertspoons milk
  • 3 dessertspoons vegetable oil
  • 3 drops vanilla extract
  • 1 handful of chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Combine flour, sugar and cocoa in a mug. Stir in the beaten egg, milk and oil, then add vanilla drops and chocolate chips.
  • Cook uncovered in the microwave on high for 2 minutes.
  • Allow to cool, and then eat in the mug or tip out on to a plate.

Notes

A dessertspoon equals approximately 2 teaspoons.
Want to make it extra chocolate? Spread a thin layer of chocolate frosting on top after it's cooked.

You have me craving chocolate so so badly now. :p That is awesome that you are enjoying your cookbook so much. Your description really painted a picture in my mind of such a special and cherished book. Love the “romantic pictures” description, too. 🙂

I have tried to make my own mug cake recipes before, but they turned terribly, haha. So I’ll have to stick to using other people’s recipes, like this one! It looks perfectly chocolaty. 🙂

So here is the scoop, my darling little friend…
I’ve been sitting here at my desk dreaming of something chocolate after eating a julienne salad. I just need something sweet now.
What pops up is an email from you… Chocolate cake in a mug.

I thought…wouldn’t that be nice to have all of the ingredients here right now…I’d just have to throw them into a mug, toss it in the microwave..and life would be grand.

I just emailed this to a bunch of my co-workers. I’m bringing the ingredients in tomorrow… and we’ll have cake whenever we want!!

I LOVE this!! Yay!! You rock. You are a rocker. Rocking. The rockest. <3

These are so much fun! My little guy and I made one one night from a book on one-bowl baking we checked out at the library. He was amazed and very proud of himself. We all dug in with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. : )
