Happy Halloween gorgeous Ghouls!
Grab a bucket of candy, some apple cider and a black cat and let me take you on a journey to Disney World for Halloween!
A week ago, it was my birthday. I’ve always wanted to go to Disney World for my birthday and Halloween so a couple weeks ago we booked the trip! To say I was excited would be a understatement. On my first trip to Disney a few years ago I stayed up late every night reading Disney forums and books, preparing myself. For this one, I had the basics set but there would be a new celebration: Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party!
Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is a Halloween Party that takes place in the Magic Kingdom on special nights in September and October. It’s a separate park ticket (Disney is great at making money!) so they close the park down for only the Halloween party guests! They also keep the park open late on these nights. We were there until 12AM dancing and collecting candy.
Collecting candy? YES! During the Halloween Party there are specific dedicated spots (usually next to rides) that you can line up and trick or treat. Noone is too old for this! Me, Matthew and 2 friends – all over the age of 30 – had a blast going from stop to stop. When you get into the park they even give you own trick or treat bag. If you fill it up, you can get a new one and keep on going! I haven’t been trick or treating in many years so it was lots of fun to get my sweet loot!
Did I mention costumes? You have to wear a costume! Disney has some of the best dressed characters, so you need to go big! Although I felt like the majority of visitors don’t go all out (the majority don’t wear a costume! *GASP*) we had to! My costume changed about a hour before we left for the airport, but thankfully I have a few clown costumes laying around. Everyone has clown costumes ready to grab for special occasions, right?
So here we are, Mr & Mrs Clown.
And Kissing Clowns! My name was Alice and Matthew’s name was Bloopy. Want to know something cool? The Alice dress I’m wearing is from a actual clown who retired and sold her clothes. Think of all the happiness the dress has caused in past years.
Our friends Lia and Will dressed up as a zombie Harry Potter and Star Trek guy (I don’t know who the characters are!). These 2 are our best buds and they moved to Seattle last year so it was great meeting in Disney to celebrate fun days!
The streets were all dark and decorated!
I immediately got really excited when I saw the pumpkin mouse!
We took advantage of the photographers around the park and got some fun group photos.
Happy HalloWishes is a magical firework display that takes place during the evening. It includes many favorite songs and vocal appearances by Disney Villains.
I also love out of focus firework shots.
And here’s some fun fireworks videos…. don’t you love the THIS IS HALLOWEEN remix?
We did a quick stop by to meet Daisy Duck.
They also put a great light show on the castle with tons of moving projection mapping.
Now are you ready for the main attraction? It’s the Mickey’s “Boo-to-You” Halloween Parade! This parade brings out all the Disney Stars, from Mickey to the grave diggers from the Haunted Mansion… they’re all there!
Who was I really excited for? The surprise…. Headless Horseman! The woman who worked at our hotel (we stayed on the Disney compound) told me about him in a very secret hush hush exchange. She told me to have my camera ready.
Here’s Tigger and Pooh… I can still tell who they are with those face masks. 😉
Beautiful Minnie who is kinda dressed up as a … purple leprechaun?
Donald Duck dressed up like he belongs in a duck’s version of Game of Thrones.
The Grave Diggers! One of my favorite parts.. when they scrape their shovels on the ground sparks fly!
More Haunted Mansion dancing. Loved their costumes and dance moves.
One of the bears from Country Bear Jamboree, dressed up in just a handkerchief and hat. 😉
Clara Cluck is one of those rare appearance Disney Characters. She also might have stole the show by clucking and singing crazily from the window. I wish I had video of this, it was truly amazing.
Goofy riding in his candy mobile.
After the parade, we walked around the park more (and got delicious chili cheese fries) and found our home.
We saw some Monsters dancing their heart out.
This a family that was getting their photo taken. Can we talk about how amazing their costumes are? Mom or Dad has to be a costume designer!
Then there was a deadmau5 who is half mouse?
This is a special photo if you find the right Disney photographer! We got to hang out with the Hitchhiking Ghosts, which is only possible for the Halloween party!
We rode Space Mountain. Us clowns had to hold on to our hats!
We also had fun on Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters. This picture is funny because I’m totally checking out his score to beat him. I won by 100 points which is one shot. YEAH! HIGH 5! Girls rule.
The clock struck midnight so we had to head out of the castle and back to the buses to go our hotel. This was such a fun night with great friends!
The not so fun part was getting that makeup off. 😉
Hope you guys enjoyed Halloween at Disney World with me! If you’re ever able to experience it, do it!
What are your Halloween plans? Are you dressing up?
