Tomatillo Salsa Verde Recipe

The BEST Tomatillo Salsa recipe using fresh tomatillos and onions.   My family loves this easy to make salsa served with tortilla chips!

  • 1 pound tomatillos husked
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 2 jalapeno peppers chopped
  • 2 tablespoons cilantro
  • 2 tablespoons lime
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • pinch of pepper
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 chicken bouillon cube


  1. Place all ingredients except bouillon cube in a blender. Blend until everything is combined and is salsa consistency.
  2. Pour salsa verde into saucepan and heat on medium high heat. Bring to a boil.
  3. Add bouillon cube and stir into salsa verde.
  4. Once boiling simmer for 15 minutes.
  5. Allow to cool and then serve immediately, refrigerate or freeze.
