What I Love: CeraVe Skin Products

It’s not often that you love a entire line of products, but that’s how I feel about CeraVe.  Usually with beauty products I’ll fall in love with one product from a brand, and then move on to another brand for the rest of my needs, but CeraVe in one sweep wins for my favorite cleanser, moisturizer, night time cream and SPF.

I’ve had tricky skin my entire life.  I’ve battled with acne since I was a teenager.   My skin dries out very easily, especially around the mouth area.  I’m also on the pale side so I tend to burn very quickly.  To battle all these products I can easily say I’ve tried over a hundred products, and the majority of them get retired to the “beauty product graveyard” drawer after about a week.  I think of all the money I’ve wasted on skin products and I cringe!  Think of all the donuts and shoes I could have bought.

A couple years ago I started seeing a new dermatologist who significantly improved my skin.  Early on she recommended I check out CeraVe because I wasn’t having any luck with the products I was using.   So I went to the drug store, grabbed the Hydrating Cleanser,  AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion and Moisturizing Cream, and have never bought another brand since.   Because of all my skin problems, I have extremely sensitive skin that can easily get irritated with a touch of a hand or collar, so I was super happy to find out that CeraVe products are non-irritating and fragrance-free, while most of them are also non-comedogenic.  CeraVe helps replenish the vital ceramides that healthy skin needs.

Here are the 3 products that I use every single day.  I consider them my BFFs.
Cerave Routine

If you’re like me, then you quiz your dermatologist about what order to put things in, how long should I wait until I put the next one, wait does this go under or over my makeup, etc.  Here’s my CeraVe routine that I use every single morning and night.

1.  CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser – I use this to wash my face in the morning.  Just a little pump and some warm water and my skin feels clean.   This removes dirt, oil and makeup as ceramides help to moisturizer, soften and help repair the skin barrier.  When I sleep my skin tends to get oily so this does a great job.
2.  CeraVe AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion – After I dry my face, I’ll apply this lotion on immediately.  It’s a moisturizer and sunscreen (SPF 30) all in one.  This is my go to yearly moisturizer if I’m mostly working indoors.  If I’m going to be outside I’ll use a direct sunscreen (more on that below).  I’ll let this moisturizer dry on my face for a few minutes and then I’ll put on makeup.

3.  CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser – Yup, this again.  After my shower, I’ll wash with this cleanser.
4.  CeraVe Moisturizing Cream – I call this the Big Daddy of all Moisturizer Creams because it’s the best!  This is my night time moisturizer that helps restore my skin while I sleep.  If my face is feeling dry at all, I can be sure that putting this on at night time will make a significant difference while I sleep.

Cerave SPF

If I’m going to be outdoors (probably gardening) then I’m going to add a step 3 to my routine and use CeraVe Sunscreen Face Lotion SPF 50.  This provides broad spectrum, lightweight sun protection plus vital ceramides.  What I love about this is how light weight it is and oil free.    I would apply this all over my face once and then to my sensitive areas on my face (like my nose – likely to burn) probably twice while I’m out in the sun.  I used this up on the land this weekend and am happy to say I didn’t get a touch of sunburn!

The CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser, CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser and CeraVe Moisturizing Cream are all on Rollback until 5/9/16 at Walmart for $9.97 so it’s a good time to try the products if you haven’t.  Here’s a $2  off coupon too.
