how many cups of fresh blueberries do i need?

You need 5 cups of fresh blueberries to make blueberry pie.

INGREDIENTS YOU NEED

white sugar cornstarch ground cinnamon salt blueberries lemon juice pie crusts butter

HOW TO MAKE

1. Mix together sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon and salt. Add in the blueberries and lemon juice and very gently toss to coat the blueberries with sugar mixture.

2. Place a pie crust in the bottom of a sprayed pie pan, or use the foil dish the pie crust comes in if you’re using store bought pie crust.  Place on baking sheet just in case it bubbles over.

can i use store bought pie crust?

Absolutely! You can use store bought pie crust or homemade pie crust for this recipe.

3. Pour the blueberry mixture into the pie crust.

4. Add small pieces of butter on top of the blueberries.

5. Cut up the remaining pie crust into long thin strips.

6. Place them on top of the blueberries, weaving them over and under to create a lattice appearance.

7. Bake pie in the oven until browned and bubbly.

MAKE SURE TO LET IT COOL 

Once the blueberry pie is done baking, it should be allowed to cool for at least an hour before serving. This cooling period helps the filling set so you can cut clean slices.
