3-Ingredient Tomato Paste With Fresh Tomatoes

TOO MANY TOMATOES?

Making tomato paste is a great way to store an abundance of fresh tomatoes.   It's simple, tastes great and freezes wonderfully too!  

INGREDIENTS:

Tomatoes  (Roma or Plum) Garlic Salt

WHAT TOMATOES TO USE?

The best type of tomatoes for paste are roma or plum tomatoes because they have the least amount of seeds and juice. 

HOW TO MAKE

1. Prepare your tomatoes by washing them and cutting them in half.

2. Put tomatoes and garlic in food processor and pulse until smooth.

3. Once the mixture is nice and smooth, add it to a pot along with salt.

4. Place on medium high heat on the stove and bring to a boil.  Once boiling, reduce to a simmer.

5. Cover and cook , stirring until tomatoes turn into a thick tomato paste.

HOW TO SERVE

Use tomato paste immediately or place it in refrigerator to use within a couple of days.

HOW MUCH DOES IT MAKE?

This recipe will make about 1 & 1/2 cup tomato paste. You can easily double or triple this recipe if you have lots of tomatoes!

HOW FREEZE

Tomato paste can be frozen to use later on!  Freeze tomato paste by adding it to ice cube trays and then transferring to freezer bags.
