Plenty of Sunshine and Some Sleep Help

 

Vitamins can really help your body, from multi vitamins to a more specific issue you’re having.  Do you guys take vitamins or supplements and if so, what do you take?

I struggle with a few things that these recommended vitamins and supplements help me with.

I have weak bones, I’ve dealt with it my entire life.  Last year at the doctor’s office I was told I have beginning signs of  osteoporosis which means my bones are fragile and are more likely to break or fracture as I get older.     Oddly enough, I’ve never had a broken bone in my life and plan on keeping it that way!  To help with this I take a multi vitamin that has plenty of Vitamin D in it.  Vitamin D is also needed for me as I spend plenty of hours inside on the computer.   Have you ever went outside for a afternoon and are just amazed by how great you felt with a little sunshine?  Get your sunshine and your Vitamin D!  FiFi Bofinkles knows how to get her sunshine in…

In the last few months I have been having a really hard time falling asleep at night.  I plan on getting to bed early and try so hard to get settled down, but then as soon as I’m in bed the tossing and turning begins.  It’s something that aggravates me so much which then leads to stress, right there in my comfortable bed.  I hate it.  Alongside my chamomile tea I take a Melatonin supplement to help my insomnia.  I take one about 60 minutes before bed which leads my body to calm down.   This does not have the same effect as a sleeping pill (which leaves me so groggy) as it’s more about controlling your body’s clock to wind down instead of knocking you out (although it does make me sleepy quickly).  Another big benefit of Melatonin is that it’s non habit forming which is a good thing all around.  Many people take Melatonin for jet lag to get their bodies back to their time zone clock.   There is many studies going on as well that say that Melatonin helps with SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder)  as light affects how much melatonin your body produces it.  During the shorter days of the winter months, your body may produce Melatonin either earlier or later in the day than usual, make you SAD.

Omega 3 Fish Oil supplements are described as one of the biggest beauty secrets out there by many.    Omega-3’s promote healthy hair that gives a great shine and battles brittleness.  Omega-3 fatty acids really help skin! If you have sensitive, dry or acne prone (!) skin then these will help clear your skin up and reduce acne inflammation.  Every single person that has taken these always says how it’s made their nails so much stronger as well, no more splits (don’t you hate that?)!  Omega-3 Fatty Acids aren’t naturally made in our body so we get them from our diet.  Supplements in this case work great for me, I take 1 a day with a meal and a big glass of water.
