Splurge on a good stroller! Get a good high chair! Here’s the bottles that will work! Don’t get so many baby clothes! Here’s the things you really need in your baby registry! This post is in partnership with buybuy BABY.
So I’m 8 months in to this whole “I’m really a Mom!” thing now. The first few months, rough. The second few months, less rough. The last few months, even less rough. The last week, omg, please lay still so I can get you dressed! In all seriousness, seeing Enceladus smile and laugh now makes up for the first few anxiety filled weeks. But one thing stays consistent – babies need a lot of STUFF.
I’m here to help you with the must have items you need to add to your Baby Registry, and also the things that I wish I would have added but didn’t! Make sure to visit your local buybuy BABY who will take you through every step of the process and guide you toward the products that best suit your needs too! You will receive a free swag Goody Bag (Moms love free stuff!) with samples and coupons!
By the way, did you start a registry at Babies R Us and are now anxious since they’re closing? Don’t worry! buybuy BABY is ready and available to assist all new and expecting parents, they will recreate any Babies R Us registries.
Stroller: Splurge on a Uppababy Vista. Trust me, it’s worth it. If you live in the city you need a beast of a stroller. I often pet my stroller while walking the NYC streets whispering to it how great it is. I kinda have a crush on my Vista. Friends always ask me what stroller to get, this is easy, get the Uppababy Vista!
Carrier: LÍLLÉbaby Complete All Seasons wins the award for us. I wear it, Matthew wears it, we wear it for short walks, long walks, or just this weekend Matthew wore it for 4 hours straight while baby attended her first NBA basketball game!
Crib and mattress: We love our Babyletto Modo 3 in 1 crib. It’s done it’s job well while looking stylish in her room. We paired it with the Newton mattress which is (I admit) expensive, but trust me, that first week when Enceladus slept on her belly for the first time, you have no idea how relieved I was to have this mattress. Your peace of mind is worth it, get the mattress!
Bouncer: Enceladus basically lived in this Baby Bjorn bouncer for the first few months. She bounced, she chatted, she played, it was a life saver for us. Plus it will look great in your apartment before you have toys all over the place! Get the toy attachment for it too!
Bottles: I wasn’t one of those unlucky parents who had to buy 6 types of bottles for my baby to like one. Maybe it’s just because I just started with the best! We love Comotomo bottles, start with the 5 ounce and move up to the 8 ounce bottles. They’re soft and baby will love them!
Diaper duty: Get a pretty wipes dispenser because it will make you feel better about yourself when you have poop on your hands (real talk). Get a steel diaper genie that will lock in the smells 100%. Everyone is always amazed not to smell dirty diapers when they’re in our apartment (I take that as a compliment!).
What I wish I got in the beginning….
Sleep: Haha, ok so you can’t buy this. But Mamas… sleep now! Seriously. Sleep. I didn’t value my sleep. If I could go back in time I would sleep during my entire pregnancy. Sorry for scaring you…. but sleep!
Highchair: I got a cheap highchair in the beginning that was a “space saver”. Yes, it did save space, but it was such a pain to clean and I constantly felt worried my baby was going to tip out of it. Splurge on a highchair, they are going to spend years using it! We got the Boon Flair and it’s amazing. Super easy to clean and looks like it came out of a episode of the Jetsons!
Noise machine: When your baby is sleeping, you need to get chores done. HAHAHA, you thought you were going to get to nap too? NO WAY. Get a noise machine to make baby sleep better, especially if you’re in a city!
Owlet: The Owlet Smart sock monitors your baby’s heart rate and oxygen levels. It will alert you if anything is wrong while sleeping. You might be thinking “Pamela, this sounds crazy”. Yes, kinda, but again, trust me, you will panic all the time while the baby is sleeping. Don’t get me started on how much more you’ll panic when the baby starts sleeping on their belly!
Bumbo seat: When Enceladus was learning to sit up, this was great to have. She helped support herself, while also having a chair we could travel with for easy feeding. Get the tray too!
Bigger clothes: Less small clothes, more big clothes. That super cute newborn size onesie is going to fit your baby once, maybe. I admit my baby is on the huge size, but I’m done buying her “accurate sizing”. Size up, make it last and save money on less clothes! Also buy organic cotton if you can, there is such a huge difference in clothing holding up in your laundry machine, not to mention once they begin crawling!
Bottle rack: If you’re going to use bottles, you need a rack! I love this Boon lawn rack!
