Ok, I can’t believe it. Proxima is 6 months old today. She’s half a year already! Can you believe it?
Maybe it was because 2020 was a doozy and everyday just feels like it blends together to make one giant day, but seriously where did the last 6 months go? I’m not even going to talk about how much Enceladus has grown up in the last year (I’ll save that for another post), but seriously Proxy… look at her, sitting up with her 2 little teeth!
6 Month Old Milestones
Proxima currently enjoys sitting up eating everything she can put into her hands, drooling nonstop (2 teeth, more very soon I think), bouncing wildly in her activity center, yelling as loud as she can and then looking shocked when you ask her what does she want.
What she really loves though is watching her big sister Enceladus. Seriously, I can’t make Proxima laugh like Enceladus can. All Enceladus has to do is whip her hair, or rub Proxy’s head and Proxy just bursts into giggles.
They seriously love each other. I am SO EXCITED to see them grow together. I’m already seeing them holding hands running down the street. Ok, I’m a little ahead of myself, but I seriously cannot wait.
A couple weeks ago she started blabbering next level, making the consonant “D” sound, lots of “DADADADADADA”. But mostly she just likes to squeal loudly and talk to herself. In the morning after she wakes up we can let her in her crib for a couple of minutes and she preoccupies herself discussing her thoughts for anyone who is nearby and will listen.
What She’s Eating (She loves food)
Starting somewhere between 4-5 months we started feeding Proxima purées. She was showing signs of food curiosity, constantly reaching for my morning banana and cup of coffee, so we knew it was time.
She’s tried apple puree, pears, bananas, carrots and green beans. I believe her favorite is banana, but I started doing combos recently, and she’s been into apple/green beans mixed together. Carrots are definitely her least favorite, but we’ll work on that. And she absolutely loves her banana “crackers”. I can’t wait to bake baby sweet potato cookies and baby led weaning sweet potato fries soon!!
Sleep Schedule
Eh, she’s not a great napper (30 minutes max), but Enceladus wasn’t either. My kids have a major fear of missing out. She goes to bed around 6:30PM, wakes up around 9:30PM for a quick bottle, and then sleeps until around 3:30, wakes up for another bottle and then back to bed until 7AM.
We had a couple not so great sleep weeks around the 4-5 month period, but now we’re doing a little better. Fingers crossed the 6-month sleep regression doesn’t hit too hard. Thankfully, she’s been handling teething pretty well, and seriously how cute are those 2 bottom teeth?
If you haven’t noticed, she’s very squishy, so I am taking all the baby snuggles I can get right now. Squishy babies give the best snuggles by the way. She’s wearing 6-12 and 12-18 month old clothing and I’m having fun dressing her every morning. I LOVE KIDS CLOTHES, seriously they make me so happy. You know what else makes me happy? Dressing her in the same clothes that baby Enceladus wore. I JUST LOVE IT!
Well that’s all I have for now. Hope you liked this update! You can always find me on Instagram where I post more baby/kids updates more frequently!
Lots of love (and baby snuggles),
Pamela
