Enceladus’s 3 Month Old Schedule + Achievements

Posted:11/12/17
Updated:8/27/18

A complete schedule of a 3 month old baby, including sleeping and eating!  This also lists achievements and other things we saw her do for the first time!  This post is in partnership with buybuy BABY.

Hey everybody, I hope your week is off to a good start!
A few weeks ago, I thought I would document the day of our 3 month old.   Before I had a baby, I thought I would be able to work during the day, or at least wipe my mouth filled with chocolate when the UPS man knocked at my door.  How naive I was!

While preparing for a baby, or even now, I enjoyed reading other parent schedules.  I don’t think we should ever compare our schedule to another family’s as everyone is different, but I always found it helpful and fun to prepare myself for the next few months!

A complete schedule of a 3 month old baby, including sleeping and eating!  This also lists achievements and other things we saw her do for the first time!  (Enceladus, with her favorite toy (“Butter”) at 3 months old.)

Here is her 3 month schedule.  (This was when she was 3 months, 4 weeks).

8AM – Wake up.  Diaper change.
8:15AM – Drink 5 oz bottle
8:15-10AM – Play.
10AM-10:40AM -Nap. During this time I feed the cats, get dressed, put on quick makeup, eat breakfast (tea and a banana) while reading/answer emails,  pick out Enceladus’s clothing.  Enceladus only takes 45 minute naps, we’ve come to terms with this!
10:40AM – Diaper change.  Get dressed.
11AM – Drink 5 oz bottle.
Usually she has a class at 11:30 or 12 so we will walk to class. If we didn’t have a class that day, we usually would walk to the park.
12PM – Diaper change.
12:40PM-1:00PM – Nap in stroller while walking home from class.  I will run to the supermarket quickly if we need things.
1PM-2PM-Play.
2PM – Diaper change.  Drink 5 oz bottle.
2:15PM – Diaper change.  She usually poops during eat.  🙁
2:15PM-3:20PM – Play.
3:20-PM-3:50PM – Nap. During this time I eat lunch and try to prepare dinner.
3:50PM-4:30PM – Play.
4:30PM-Diaper change. Drink 5 oz bottle.
5:15PM- Diaper change, poop.
5:15PM-6PM – Play.
6PM-6:30PM – Nap.
6:45PM – Diaper change.
7PM – Drink 5 oz bottle.
7PM-8:30PM – Play. Matthew usually gets home around this time and he plays with her while I start dinner.
8:30PM – Get ready for bed.  We give her a bath every other night.  Diaper change.  Change into pajamas.   (Note: Bath time is usually always Dad and Enceladus time! Mom gets kicked out of the bathroom while they enjoy giggles and splashes).
9:00PM-Drink 7 oz bottle.  Go to sleep.
9:45PM – Fuss for 10 minutes.
10PM-5AM – Sleep without waking.
5:00AM-5:45AM – Fuss, stir, wants pacifier, but usually doesn’t require bottle or taking out of the bassinet.
5:45AM-8:00AM – Sleep.

Notes:
Enceladus is 100% bottle, formula fed.
6-9PM are generally fussy hours every night.
She is a “cat napper” so we don’t get long daytime naps.  She only naps for about 45 minutes, (update: We’re at 13 months and this is just how it is for us!)
“Play” consists of playing with her with toys, singing and dancing to music, looking at books, laying on our sides and “talking” to each other, watching videos.  Basically, it’s us entertaining her nonstop.

Totals:
Naps: 2 hours total
Bedtime sleep: 10 hours
Total sleep in 24 hours: 12 hours
Diaper changes: 9 (7/2)
Food: 32 ounces (we love these bottles!)

Now, on to the 3 month achievements and changes:

At the end of 3 months, she was 17 pounds and 26 inches long.  She’s a big lady!

WE ARE FINISHED WITH COLIC.  THIS SHOULD BE IN CAPITAL LETTERS.  THIS SHOULD BE IN BLINKING LIGHTS.
WHEW! What a whirlwind of physical and emotional distress the first 3 months were, but at around 12 weeks, she just sorta grew out of it.   I talked about colic briefly before, and I plan on doing a heart to heart post soon, but this was a heart breaking period for everyone involved.   It seemed that Enceladus just needed a little additional time to grow used to the world around her.  I don’t blame her though, the world is a pretty scary place right now.  Although we are still dealing with post colic anxiety, I am so happy that we’re over the colic hump!

A complete schedule of a 3 month old baby, including sleeping and eating!  This also lists achievements and other things we saw her do for the first time!  (With her other favorite 3 month old toys:  Prop-A-Pillar tummy time pillow, Freddie the Firefly, Manhattan Toy Winkel Burst, Floor Mirror, Baby Bjorn Wooden Toys (connects to her bouncer!))

She found her thumb!  Instead of throwing her entire fist in her mouth, now she can slide just her thumb in there comfortably.

She started napping.  The first 12 colic filled weeks were pretty much without daytime naps, but now we’re getting a few catnaps in during the day.  They are short 30 minute naps, but I will take anything at this point.

She started drooling. All the time.  All over everything.    A trip to the Doctor for her 4 month vaccines confirmed that she has swollen bottom gums and is indeed, teething.

She started playing by herself for a little bit.  Usually after eating, I could sit her in her Baby Bjorn bouncer and she could give me 10 minutes to put away the dishes or quickly make myself breakfast.    Again, 10 minutes isn’t very long, but again, I will take anything at this point!

She started to reach for the cats.  Hah.  Stay tuned on this one.  In all seriousness though, she already has a special bond with the cats. Bofinkles hasn’t been doing great the last few years, she’s an old lady. She became a loner and hung out by herself in a box in the corner of the room, hardly ever coming out. I was worried that she wasn’t going to be able to meet our first baby. Since Enceladus has arrived Bofinkles has completely changed. From the time Enceladus wakes up until bedtime, Bofinkles sits with her on her mat, and only leaves for food. She is so loving and caring to Celly. Celly loves brushing her hands in her fur. It’s been lovely to see my two ladies get along so well and show so much love to each other. When people ask me how our cats get along with Enceladus, I always tell them that they love each other.

She’s a cat lady already.

She can turn her head in a fluid motion to track people, cats, and objects.

She’s making lots of sounds with her mouth.  When her voice goes high she thinks it’s a real hoot.

She’s very close to rolling over.  If we help her out, she can work enough momentum (girl has strong legs) and push herself over.  Once on her belly, she still doesn’t love it, but she’s becoming more “ok” with it.

SHE LOVES BLOWING SALIVA BUBBLES.

She smiles, laughs, shows enjoyment for activities she likes.  She still thinks her Mom is hilarious!

She reaches out for toys and generally grabs them successfully.  And then immediately puts them in her mouth.  (Drooling.  All the time.  All over everything).

She loves playing with toys and splashing in the tub. These are her favorite bath toys (they’re soft and easy to grab!).

She is going through sleep regression.  She was sleeping through the night for a few weeks (We love the Snoo), but she’s going through a rough patch of waking up multiple times and general AM fussiness.

Well that’s it for now!

Hope you enjoyed her 3 month schedule post!  See you at 4 months!

Hi! How did you deal with regression and how long did it last? My girl is 4 months and seems to be teething and regressing. Also, I have to pig pacifier in sometimes. Do you feel that defeats the purpose because I still am getting up?

So glad to hear that the rough times are finished…when you’re in the midst of them, they are all consuming. Having access to other new mothers’ stories must be a wonderful support, no internet when I had my kids. Being a mom really teaches you patience and resiliency. Nothing lasts forever, including babies, so continue to treasure this specail time!
