Basil Will Grow If You Clean Your House

Posted:5/31/16
Updated:5/31/16

Tracking Pixel I believe growing your own food is important so I wanted to help promote this project as home gardening is something I feel strongly about! This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day®.

Yes, you read the title right. If you clean your house, basil will grow.  It’ll be like magic, but not really,  because we all know if magic was involved, our houses would be cleaned without us lifting a finger.

But back to the story.  Basil – don’t you love it?  It smells great, is bright green, looks just as pretty growing in the garden as it does in a mason jar, grows easily and is the best friend for sandwiches, pasta pesto and pizza recipes.

Aero-Garden-Basil

Basil is such a easy plant to grow in the garden and is pretty resistant to the elements to tear it down.  If you’ve ever grown basil you know how big it can grow.  With just these 2 basil plants, we had basil forever!  Bonus is that if you have too much basil, you can dry it to store in jars (great for sprinkling in casseroles, soups, lasagna, etc).

When I heard about an initiative that my favorite cleaning brand, Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day®, was doing to promote gardening  (May 19 was Plant Something Day!) I needed to tell you guys!  For every order on the website, the brand will donate $5 of every purchase towards a $10,000 donation to the American Community Gardening Association to help grow new community gardens across the country.   This campaign lasts from May 9 to June 5th so make sure to stock up on your cleaning products while supporting home and community gardens!

I love the environment so I use Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day® products.  It’s pretty much that simple.  Their products are made with responsible raw material choices, and whenever possible, materials from renewable plant resources such as coconut, palm, corn, soy or olive.   When I read the back of the bottle of a product and it says that the product ingredients are at least 98% naturally deprived, it’s a brand I can get behind.   And guess what else.  Meyer’s Clean Day is also a certified cruelty-free company for their no animal testing policy.  They do not test their products or ingredients on animals, nor are their products made with animal-derived ingredients.  That is really important to me! Their garden-inspired fragrances provide a aromatherapeutic experience while you clean.  So while you’re on your hands and knees cleaning that floor you can close your eyes and pretend that you’re in a flower garden. It works. Sort of 🙂

Look at those amazing fragrances.  Germanium, Lemon Verbena, Lavender – it’s just like a garden!  You need to try the Lavender laundry detergent too!

Their Basil collection is my favorite! The smell is cool and crisp, just like you’re in the garden. The smell of basil helps ease nerves so it works with you hand in hand for those panicky cleaning days.

So hop on over to their website, grow some basil and let’s make this a happy Summer garden experience!

Happy Gardening everyone!

Hey Pamela…as you recommended I dilute a little dish washing soap with water and
spray the bejesus on the aphids last evening! I think I temporarily reduce their population . But will definitely have to repeat again tonight or tomorrow. Thank you
    very much for your help!

Thanks for the intro to Mrs. Meyer’s products. New to me — they sound great. Basil, of course, I already know is great. And you’re right — two plants are all you need. Fun read — thanks.

I love Mrs Meyers products and have been using them for many years! Ok, your rooftop garden…that’s a photo from last year, right? I know you are ahead of us up here in the mountains but you can’t be that far ahead! 🙂
