Baby’s Crib Reveal!

Posted:5/1/17
Updated:5/2/17

Time to reveal the baby’s crib in our NYC apartment!  Space, planets, clouds and robots were our inspiration!  This post is in partnership with buybuy BABY.

Oooo – things are getting serious here! We’re doing a crib/nursery reveal!  If baby is reading this,  please stay in my belly for another 10 weeks.  But then again, if baby is reading this, we really need to talk because how do you have a laptop in there?

The last few months we’ve put hard work in making a baby nursery, building it from the ground up in our loft.  Thankfully Matthew is a Mr. Super Handyman although I think we both had internal moments of “I can’t take this mess anymore!” while construction was happening.  But the day is here… the nursery is done and ready to go!  Today I’m going to show you my most favorite part of the room – this is where the baby is going to have sweet dreams and eventually escape so she play with her feline brothers and sisters – the crib!

We’re in love with it!
Baby Nursery_4

We wanted her room to be simple but with touches of things that will inspire her.   We wanted touches of things that her Mom and Dad are really into and can’t wait to share with her.  I’m already picturing her in her crib pointing at the framed picture saying “Saturn!”.  Gosh, that would be a proud Mama moment there.    We went with grey paint on the walls, mostly white furniture and some pops of color.  Throw in our love of space and dinosaurs and you have her nursery!
Baby Nursery_8

I did a lot of searching for the perfect crib!  Initially I really wanted a grey crib, but then we decided to go grey with the walls so that was out of the question.  It seemed that a white crib would be a perfect pop of brightness!  As soon as I saw Babyletto‘s line of cribs I knew that’s what we needed.  We decided to go with the Babyletto Modo 3-in-1 Convertible Crib in White and I couldn’t be happier.  It’s a beautiful crib, with a modern look and it will transition to a a toddler bed and daybed.

After the crib was selected then I had the job of picking the perfect mobile along with the perfect sheets!  Who knew this stuff could be so difficult?  One night Matthew told me to “Stop looking at reviews! Get off the computer!”.   Yeah, ok I might have had 30 different mobiles in multiple carts and needed a intervention.  Finally the clouds cleared and I decided on the Moonlight & Melodies Cloud Mobile by SKIP*HOP which I love!  It has multiple sound options on it (songs and ambient sounds) as well as projects stars on the ceiling so I think baby girl is going to love it!

Baby Nursery_6

After that we picked some sheets, a blanket (that we might steal because we love it so much) and Babyletto’s galaxy crib skirt.  Who knew so much work would go into selecting the perfect crib skirt? Whew, I need a nap after this.   The entire galaxy collection is filled with stars and constellations so it looks great with the rest of the room!

Baby Nursery_5

Finally – a rug! Baby needs something cozy for when she starts to crawl and create chaos.   We went back and forth with getting a rug that was completely printed or solid – in the end we went with something in between. We chose a light blue rug that has a simple cloud print on it from Rugs USA.  The rug is beautiful and every single person that sees the nursery first comments on how much they love the rug!  To make it extra soft we added the rug pad to go underneath it.   I know she’s going to love this rug and we’ll have lots of play time dates on it! And to prove how soft it is, Toes is going to demonstrate her best baby impersonation. Thanks Toes.
Baby Nursery_11

So the crib area is done! We couldn’t be happier with how it looks.   I know I used the word LOVE many times in this post but I can’t help it – we love it, love it, love it!
Baby Nursery_10

The nursery is close to be being done, but I still have odds and ends to get – I’ll be posting my favorite accessories to come soon!

If you like the things that I posted above here is a full shopping guide so you can shop our nursery!

Once again, Pamela…my hat is off to you and your equally amazing partner/soon-to-be-dad! I’m beginning to wonder if you guys ever sleep? I’m exhausted just watching all of your accomplishments. You have shown us you have limited space in your New York apartment… so to take that space & turn it into such a bright, “luxurious” room for that brand new little girl is a labor of love on the grandest scale. I suspect that the artwork may have sprung from your very own hand? I applaud all that you two do, always. What a joy to include us & let us share it with you ❤️
(& I’m so impressed that you veered from the usual themes — lambs & zoo animals, etc. Gives new meaning to : ” I love you to the moon & back!”).

So sweet! My “baby” is 21, but your posts bring back so many sweet memories of that magical time when we were waiting to bring him home. I also looked at so many store displays, catalogs, etc. before I came up with his nursery (online shopping was still rare). So many wonderful times cuddling, reading, and rocking in that room, several times with one or both of my kitties nearby! Best wishes for this special time ahead!

Oh, your nursery looks so colorful and welcoming to your ‘new arrival.’ I remember buying all used stuff for my daughter, born 35 years ago. I bought a used crib from someone and tied the mattress to the top of my car. On the 7-mile drive home, it shifted around on top- a cop stopped me and helped me tie it better onto the car.

Oh, I’m sure that won’t be the only time you need an intervention!!! It can be so overwhelming to try and make decisions on baby things when you want so badly for everything to be just ‘perfect’! I ADORE those cute little planet prints you chose, they are completely adorable. And what a cool theme to go with. It reminds me of what I always tell my kids…that I love them to the moon and back. Thanks for sharing your special new space!

I’m can’t help myself–I have to comment on the rug first, too. It’s sooo cute! Seriously, I kinda wish I had that in my room. The mobile too, and the art on the walls, and the wall color! I love it. It’s just perfect!
