Viva® Vantage® Blog Party in NYC!

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Viva® Vantage®.

Last week I had a fun time hanging out with other NYC bloggers at the Viva® Vantage® party.  There was plenty of great food, wine glasses filled at 10AM, decorating stations to paint your own glass and lots of helpful hints on what you can use Viva® Towels for besides just wiping my sloppy mouth with (hey, it happens).

Here’s a quick video I made at the party!

I’ve been a Viva®  fan for years, honestly it’s the only paper towel I use, and I am totally not lying.   It feels like a cloth and it’s super durable without having to use a few sheets, so I was excited to try the new Viva® Towels.  We’ve become such fanatic Viva®  fans that if I have to buy a different brand because they’re out Matthew is always like “Oh man, you didn’t get Viva® !”.  Everyone notices in the house.

Double Chocolate Protein Oatmeal – Who doesn’t want chocolate for breakfast?

A protein packed Double Chocolate Protein Oatmeal breakfast recipe! Who doesn’t want chocolate for breakfast?
Boy, it’s gotten chilly here quick.  Ever year I say the same thing about the weather changing so fast.  One week you’re dabbing the sweat away on your face and then suddenly you need gloves to keep your fingers from going numb in the garden.   The air conditioner is out of the window and we’ve moved on to bringing the big comforters out of Winter storage.  The cats are slowly walking towards their heated cabins (yes, they are heated houses and yes, they are spoiled), Xanadu is knocking on the blankets every night to get under and they’re wanting to snuggle on their mama all night long.

Luckily I love Fall and I love being chilly.  I love sweaters, coats, boots and the crisp feel of the chill on my face in the morning.  As the seasons change so does my choice of food.  Near the end of September I start to get a love of Earl Grey and English Breakfast teas back instead of my usual green tea in the Summer.   My breakfast of a protein bar slowly transitions into a pumpkin English muffin with a little bit of soy butter on top.    One breakfast I’ve been loving (and admit to having this for lunch too) is Double Chocolate Protein Oatmeal.   I haven’t said anything on the blog but I’m 4 months meat free.  I quit cold turkey (literally) eating meat a few months ago and haven’t had any regrets.  I look forward to veggie black bean burgers and love my vegetable soups to keep me warm.  With meat no longer in my diet I started to feel tired in the first few weeks.  I wasn’t taking any supplements and I wasn’t really looking at what I lacked, protein.  Suddenly I started putting protein powder in my foods, eating protein bars and drinking shakes and it was such a turnaround on how I felt.

With this Double Chocolate Protein Oatmeal I get what I need: protein to keep energy up and chocolate.  Because who doesn’t need chocolate?  And who doesn’t need chocolate in the morning?  I look forward to waking up now!

Our trip to Doha, Qatar – Part 2

Did you miss Part 1 of our Doha, Qatar adventure with lots of food and friend pictures? Then check it out here.

In April we flew over to Qatar to teach a class in relationship to what Reed + Rader does, make fun videos and gifs! The experience was one of a kind and amazing in all sorts of ways.  Part 3 will be coming soon where I show you what the students made and how the class went.  But for now, Part 2, I want to show you around Doha and show you how they do everything big and beautiful.  Actually that’s a understatement, they do everything bigger than big.    The trip was long but comfortable.  I had the tea flowing and the entire season of Downton Abbey was available to watch for me to catch up on.

Show Someone You Love Them With a Unicorn

I know, what a title right? Show someone you love them…. with a unicorn! So grab your unicorn (they’re easy to find) and let’s get loving.

The truth is I love Matthew. Kissy faces and “oohs and ahhs” from the crowd. Stop it you guys.  So when I heard about CloudPets™ that allow you to give someone a stuffed animal that sends voice messages to them and for them to return them back to you, I knew I had to surprise Matthew with one.  What says I love you more than hearing my voice every morning with a new surprise?

Watch below for how it works.  When there’s a new message the heart blinks red. Then you press it’s hand and the message is heard!

Monday – Friday Breakfast Schedule – What do you eat?

I don’t really like to get out of bed when my alarm goes off.  For one it’s still Summer and the air conditioner is on and I don’t feel like braving 90 degrees today.  For another, I’m tired and I want to sleep in 2 more hours. And most importantly I’m usually surrounded by my cuddle bears who try to lure me back to sleep with their soft purrs and gentle paw taps.  Xanadu is like “Come back to me Mom..”

Maple Syrup Ham, Egg and Cheese Sandwich – Made in seconds!

Join me in making this Maple Syrup Ham, Egg and Cheese Sandwich, the perfect sandwich made in seconds, sponsored on behalf of Smithfield Anytime Favorites.

It’s almost September! Yipee!  You see, I’m a Fall girl so I love everything about these next upcoming months.  But with Fall, comes early mornings.  Maybe it’s back to work (or maybe it’s regular go to work), getting your kids on the bus, making your loved one a on the go sandwich, or throwing together a quick dinner sandwich after basketball practice.  This Maple Syrup Ham, Egg and Cheese Sandwich is crazy good, will fill you up and the best part, it’s made in seconds.  I’m serious.  You can literally have this made in under 90 seconds.  Time yourself, it will be fun! Plus you’ll get your daily exercise in.  See, it’s a win win situation!

The sandwich is based on a popular fastfood sandwich, but homemade so you know what’s going into it and you can use the finest ingredients.  It hits the spot of being savory (ham, egg, cheese) but with a touch of sweetness (maple syrup).   You can serve it up for breakfast, pack it for lunch (just put the syrup on the ide) or make for dinner.  I’m a fan of breakfast for dinner, so make these up and serve with some greens on the side and you’re set.

It’s a Furry World I Live In

I live in a furry home.
This is the sign that you see when you walk into our house:
Cat Hair

And this is probably true, so deal with it. My kids have paws, fur, tiny little toes that pitter patter when they chase balls, and they cuddle with purrs.  My kids rule.  Most of you who read this blog or follow me on Instagram know I’m a #catlady.  I love cats, I love them all, the entire cat population is my best friend.

Did you know we have 5 cats?  You might have thought we had 4, but in July we adopted a new girl who needed a immediate home.  I’ll do a entire post on her because she’s awesome. Her name is Toes and she’s a sweet heart x a million.
