2016 Christmas Tree & New Ornaments

Well, Christmas is almost here.  Are the cookies baked?  Is the tree decorated? Are the gifts wrapped?  I have at least 1 of those done… the tree is decorated!

Sticking with our tradition we started last year, we bought a live Norway Spruce tree that we will be planting on the land in January to live next to his Brother. The tree is about 3 feet tall, but one day it might grow up to 100 feet! Can you imagine?  Eventually I want the land to be a forest of trees with year plaques on them that we can walk through and tell stories of each holiday.

Each year we add a couple new ornaments to the tree for places we visited. This year we added a sheep from Ireland and Socks the cat from my trip to the White House Garden.

I love that our ornaments tell stories of places we’ve visited.  2 of my favorites are a sparkly camel from Qatar and a NASA ornament from Kennedy Space Center.

I’m also completely obsessed with big hand crafted balls.  Bonus is that the cats can swat them down and they won’t break!

I’d love to hear about your tree!  Did you decorate it already?  If so, feel free to include links to photos in the comments!
