Looking to stay in comfort when visiting Cleveland? Look no further, you have to check out Metropolitan at The 9!
Metropolitan is a boutique hotel located in Downtown Cleveland that will dazzle you with it’s style and amenities. How much did we love it? As soon as we got back to NYC, we went and bought the same bed that the hotel had. We loved it that much.
The hotel has 10 floors of rooms (91 rooms , 65 suites) that are each decorated with a colorful modern twist. As soon as you can walk into your room you can tell it was curated carefully to make sure everything was just right.
So why don’t we walk into our room?
The bed is king size with a plush pillow top. I can’t express how comfortable it is. I mean I can because I told you already that we bought this bed when arriving home. The first night here we were supposed to wake up early but instead we just snoozed our hearts out. A wow moment was spotting there were plentiful media connections wired next to the bed. We always pack HDMI and numerous other cables and adapter dongles when we stay at hotels so that we can share our laptop screens to the televisions so this was a really nice surprise after dealing with most hotels that are stuck in the dark ages.
Off to the other side of the room is a nice seating area with a couch (also has a pull out bed). There is a glass water bottle with water refilling stations on each floor that I enjoyed. In the middle of the room is a flat screen television on a arm that you can swivel from viewing in bed or watching on the couch. The television has premium channels so there’s endless options to watch. If you want to watch something on your laptop (free ultra fast internet!) then just plug it into the media connections next to the bed and Netflix your heart out.
Now are you ready for sexy time? Then let’s hop into the bathroom. The bathroom has a frosted glass shower that is exposed to the entire room. This might be great for couples but may not be best if you are staying with with a co-worker on a business trip. Since I was staying with Matthew, I really enjoyed the shower. It was luxurious inside and also when I slipped my comfy robe on afterwards. The owner downer was I really was hoping for a bathtub too. Living in NYC I don’t have a tub, so I always look forward to soaking it up when on a trip. Unfortunately our room didn’t have one, but the other amenities made up for it.
Are you thirsty, hungry or need a phone charger at home? This snack bar and fridge is stocked from drinks, juices, granola bars and candy. There is no coffee or tea maker in the rooms so you might want to bring your own if you are tea obsessed like me.
The room is beautiful, but what about the rest of the hotel? Even better, let’s check it out!
The hotel features Adega, which is a Modern Mediterranean Cuisine restaurant open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It also has Ledger which is a American fare bar that is open for lunch and dinner. On the rooftop (open May-October) there is Azure that features cocktails and beautiful views.
Ready to let loose at night? Then head downstairs to the Vault which is a pre-prohibition-style lounge featuring a 1906 bank vault door and four other historic vaults. Here you can find expert Mixologists that will make you a dreamy drink!
This is the most popular lounge in Cleveland so it’s the place to be seen. Don’t be surprised to see celebrities hanging out in the VIP rooms. Don’t freak out, play it cool, unless you see Lebron James then you can fan boy or fan girl all you want!
Maybe you want a more chilled night? Then head to the Alex Theater! Here you can watch live music, independent films or the sports game that can’t be missed. Grab a comfy seat!
Or feeling like you need to get your workout on? Then head to the 24 hour fitness center that is fully equipped with machines. It also has Yoga classes that you can join! No picture of this, but Matthew used the workout room and said it was great. I was too busy hanging out in the bed upstairs.
One thing I really loved was the elevators, they were so quick that we never had to wait for one. On the display you’ll pick what floor you are going to, scan your room key to make sure you are a guest and then it will direct you to your own personal elevator to use.
One of my other favorite parts of this hotel was they have a artist in residency program that gives a artist space to create and showcase their work. I loved rounding the corner and seeing metallic smiling balloons and a rainbow of colors! All the artists work is for sale to support their creative process.
Hungry? Me too!
Walk to Superior Pho for some of the best pho and rolls I ever had!
Want to feel like you ate too much but loved every second of it? Drive to Melt, the popular grilled cheese restaurant. This is my lasagna on grilled cheese. It probably shortened my life a bit but it was worth every minute.
I hope you enjoyed my trip to Cleveland and my stay at Metropolitan at The 9!
