Yummy snacks and gardening – those go together great, right?
I mean ok maybe not gardening and eating yummy snacks at the same time, but then again, why not? A little melted Coconut & Milk Fruit Bar running down my hand is a blessing in disguise isn’t it? It’s nothing a little delicious lick can’t clean up. Real talk.
Ok maybe watering a container of tomatoes while holding a fruit bar at the same time is a little wild, but I think we all need to be a little wild sometime? I like that my idea of wild is holding a hose in one hand and a frozen juice bar stick at the same time on a sunny afternoon. I’m a wild one. Watch out.
This post is dedicated to garden harvests of various veggies and my new favorite pick me up treat, Fruttare frozen fruit bars. These bars are bursting with real fruit taste beause they are are made with real fruit! A garden bursting with real vegetables and fruits sounds like the perfect place to eat them, doesn’t it?
The Fruttare Fruit and Milk Bars are made with creamy milk and real fruit while the Fruttare Fruit and Juice Bars are made with real fruit and refreshing juice. Real, Real and Real! My favorite are the Coconut and Milk bars which makes you feel like you’re vacationing in the tropics! 1 bar is only 140 calories making it not only a delicious (!) treat but a healthy choice too. I love the discovery of a healthy and yummy snack, don’t you? I’m also in love with the Lime and Black Cherry flavors – so good! If I could blink my eyes and magically have a Coconut and Milk bar appear in all your hands I would. I love you that much.
There’s been lots of harvests from the past few months and instead of doing a post here or there on them I thought I’d make this a little round up of recent harvests from the garden! From tomatoes, peppers and watermelon to the transition of beans and carrots here’s what we’ve been picking, growing and eating!
Because we’ve been keeping a yield chart this year, I can tell you guys we’ve grown close to 175 pounds of vegetables so far! On a rooftop! In containers! Let’s just do a Community high 5 hugging session because this make me so happy!
First up, let’s check out our Gita long green beans. These are Chinese beans and they are perfect in Stir-Fries. I hope to be sharing my favorite recipe soon so keep a eye out for it! These beans grow massive, sometimes 2 feet long..!
They start tiny and then grow long.. quick!
Peppers, both green peppers and jalapenos! We’ve been picking jalapenos all Summer and finally a few weeks ago the bell peppers started. This has me excited for so many recipes. I’m also totally obsessed with these Candied Jalapenos, I eat a jar (or 2!) a week.
One of the plants we grew for the first time this year has been tomatillos. Can I say how awesome these grow? Seriously. Not even in my wildness dreams I thought we’d be picking this many! I already froze a few batches of Salsa Verde. I’ve also just been eating it with a spoon because it’s that good.
Jars of pickles in the fridge..
And so much mint for nice cups of afternoon tea!
